Can't be arsed looking back through the archive but you raised 2 points: (a) He is lazy! _ Categorically MITO made this statement repeatedly supported by others. b) Some said he should be dropped but it was a small minority, I don't recall people saying he was finished. - As I remember it Billy and I were usually in the minority not the other way around ( sorry forgot to mention SM).
I thought that earlier in the year but in truth he's benefited from the time on the pitch more than most so again whether by accident or design it seems to have been the best course of action for him (hopefully he doesn't hobble off after 5 mins today now I've said that ). The fact is he was being criticised for not looning around like a bull in a china shop anymore as he'd done for years but that actually seems to have allowed him to stay injury free so maybe Brenda has simply found a way to prolong his career and we are reaping the benefits from it now.
I think it all comes down to trophies won. He hasnt won much lets be honest, moving to chelsea in 05 would have been a better choice for him

Add all the personal accolades as well like football of the year and 100 caps etc... He's had a pretty average career.
