Cheers, thanks for the details. To score 3 was an added bonus to the win ...................... when was the last time we scored 3 ? Aussie
I suspect it was Wolves away last season at their place when JB was getting involved with the crowd??
Bang on Matt and I've high lighted the absolute key point for me. We all know we have talented players but to see them work their sox off for each other as a team was a joy we've been waiting a long time to see.
The relegation battle will be between Reading (who I think are down already) and two between either Wigan, Villa or Saints. Of these three teams, Saints are playing the best football but can't seem to buy a win at the moment. The next two Southampton games are Liverpool and Chelseas - this will mean no points. Saints need QPR to beat those teams around us in the relegation zone for us to stay up. I don't see QPR as relegation rivals and you will be doing us a favour by beating Villa. This may seem perverse ast the moment but come the end of April this logic will have made sense. QPR will easily end up above Sunderland, Newcastle and perhaps Norwich. I can't see you dropping too many points in the remaining fixtures as you have the easiest run in. Fiar play to Harry. Saints fans didn't want him when it was first muted that Adkins was on his way out and his appointment would have been a political disaster. Luckily it worked to R's advantage and history looks like repeating itself following the similar escape act he ahcieved at Portsmouth. (Not sure of the stats, but I think Portsmouth's position at that time was that of fewer points and fewer games to turn the team around. Not even sure if he benefited from the transfer window in that season. ) Good luck for the remainder of 2012/13.
I know Harry isn't everyone's cup of tea but I like the man and hopefully he is on course to pull off another survival act
Can't help feeling that you're taking the p here a little bit! We're still 4 points from safety and while we've had a couple of good wins Villa will still be favourites in our next game. I think we'll still not be guaranteed of surviving until the last day(s?) of the season, but your good wishes are appreciated.
Grinning I'm totally serious about what I said. The momentum is with QPR at the moment. You have a far better sqaud than you had before Christmas and the team is starting to put together some impressive performances. I think it is simply a matter of confidence and now the layers have belief, the team should be able to get the kind of results under it's belt that a squad of that calibre managed by a very good manager should achieve. Granted, it will not be easy but Harry has a record of doing this. A third win in a row would certainly cause every team around you to really panic. As I said, the two remaining places are between Wigan, Villa and Saints as Reading have no chance of staying up. Assuming you win your next two games and Saints perform as expected against Chelsea and Liverpool, you will be one point above us. I don't think your survival is really as unlikely as you may think. Most Saints fans see QPR as the main threat to our status and not Villa , etc. Cheers Ian
Thanks for your optimism - you got to be as optimistic as our Dave! I wish I could share it, the wins in our last 2 games have given us a continued survival chance, we'd have been about relegated if we'd had lost them. But we're still bottom, and probably only Reading, Wigan, Villa and Saints at a push, have we got much chance of getting past, so we are definetely one of the favourites to go down
Oslo I would predict wins against Villa, Fulham, Wigan, Stoke and Reading and a draw against Newcastle. You will get nothing against either Liverpool or Everton. This will put you on 39 points but I think this will still be more than sufficient to survive.
On a scale of 1-Smug I was at about a 9. I've been banging on about how much I rate Zamora for a while now, and I believe I'm being proven right! Hoping he manages to stay vaguely fit for the rest of the season. #prayforbobby
Wasn't it home to Wigan last winter when we also won 3-1 I think and Busaki and Smith scored fantastic goals from distance. I was reminded of this game yesterday when we beat Saints in a similar way.
