QPR manager Harry Redknapp was delighted with Bobby Zamora, who has been playing with damaged ankle ligaments.

    .

    ..
The 32-year-old, who has postponed hip surgery until the end of the season, was a constant thorn in the Black Cats’ side in the first half before his injuries forced him off.

“Zamora wasn’t really fit,” Redknapp revealed. “He’s done his ankle ligaments.

“He’s played with an injury today. Others wouldn’t have put themselves up today. That’s Bobby Zamora – he has a go.”

Redknapp then revealed that the physio had told him that the former England international would be out for six weeks prior to the game with Southampton.

“He played 60 per cent fit today,” he added. “The physios said a week ago he’d be out for six weeks. He was so desperate to play.

“You’ve got to give him a lot of credit. The effort he’s put in was fantastic.”

I know I'm in the minority, but I don't see it with BZ. I thought he did ok, although he hardly won a header all game. He looked 60% fit to me and shouldn't be playing imo.

At 60% fit, he was fantastic today, holding up the ball for us today and providing opportunities to play in team-mates. Liked the idea, as 'Arry described in his post game interview, of playing two old fashioned wingers (Hoilett & Townsend) and two in the middle (Zamora & Remy), with Bothroyd & Mackie on the bench for extra offensive threat.

As I say, I just don't see it. Although I'm prepared to admit that the fact I've never really rated him clouds my judgement somewhat.

I thought the inter-play between players up front today was really good - Mbia also had his usual forceful game today, just wish he would stop slapping opponents around the chops with his flailing arms - no yellow cards (for anyone) today, so discipline kept in order.

I thought Mbia had his best game for us today. He really passed the ball well, which has been his biggest problem to date. He also worked so hard, along with Park in a two man midfield. The inter-play was good at times, but I don't remember it involving Zamora all that often. As I say....must be me!

I thought Zamora did very well.

I noticed him hobbling before he was subbed, again.

Was surprised Mackie replaced him and not Bothroyd.

BZ's attitude was exemplary, went round every player before the kick off geeing them up, made himself available the whole time, pushed O'Shea and Bramble (a very weak pairing on today's evidence) around. But he is obviously not fit, unable to sprint and get into dangerous positions. If only he had been this interested when he was fully fit.

Well me too! Don't really understand why he didn't play Betty - his game against Saints was better than Zamora's today . He scored for one, BZ didn't come close.

Twas a strange game for him, but he did hold it up well a couple of times, did enough to make space to spread it back out wide to the flanks on a couple of really good occasions. But his move up front in the middle was enough to draw defenders, which gave Hoilett lots of room to roam from which he was able to get a couple of great shot attempts.

So I have to give BZ some credit <ok>, but it's really dangerous for him to be out there! I hope he doesn't do further damage to himself.

But I fear Betty will feel hard-done by, seeing how well he did last week. May be next week Arry can sit BZ down and let Betty run again.

That's why we maintain a "squad" of 25 players to allow rotations due to injuries, form, tactics etc.

    Zamora/Bothroyd
    Green/Cesar
    Hoilett/SWP
    Bosingwa/Traore
    etc.

Look at some of the Man City squad that spend most of some games on the bench - these so called super-subs, a tactic that seemed to stop working for Reading once Le Fondre began starting games, rather than grabbing his usual clutch of late goals.

Watching the game online I thought BZ had a good game holding up play was great and his distribution always found another QPR player and he won several headers, Col what about the one at the far post laying it off for Remy?

Funny thing is that watching my first impression was that BZ looked really fit?

Zamora was struggling badly for a good 15 mins before we took him off and now he's out for six weeks. Keeping him on could costume our season.

He was great in the first half he won everything and enabled us to build lots of attacks.

i think HR wanted a harrier on to chase everything, keep the momentum going and not give them a way back into the game....or something.

Dave just reminded me of how well Adel played as a false 9 against Chelsea - he could do even better there with Remy, Townsend and Hoillet now available to play off him, surely better than Zamora or Betty,

If he was less selfish, passed the ball and played with a bit of urgency he'd be ideal there (not meant to sound sarcastic!).
