But don't know what anyone looks like. I'm the short, handsome one sitting down wearing a black hoodie. Come and say hello
Sorry gents. No chance of making it this week. Working on the Villa match. Hopefully family will be well by then. Remind me - what does it say on the flag behind the bar? Come on you Rs and you Bhoys? Something like that?
Something like that, yeah. Just like to say it was a pleasure to meet you all in the pub today. I hope I remember all the names. Col & Will, Staines, Roller, Norway, Beth, Hoops Eternal. Had a brilliant day. Days like today have been few and far between this season so today was special, really special. I met Staines, Norway and Beth today for the first time. Enjoyed the brief chat and nice to put some faces to the names. Hope to meet you all again in the near future. Great performance by the team and home in time for MOTD. PERFECT.
As ever the pre match meet up was very enjoyable. I arrived at the Coningham Arms a little later then hoped for to find that SB.73 and his son already in situ. While Stan slipped back to the bar to buy me a pint I spied a lady in a QPR shirt with BETH written across her back. True to her word she is a little short, but the gentlemen with her didn’t exactly tower above her. Staines, for it was he, hit our group like a breath of fresh air, you couldn’t hope to meet a guy more determined to enjoy himself. Col and son arrived shortly after, and strangely enough we were straight onto the topic of tactics. Needless to say we were all completely wrong, both with the minimal changes we expected Redknapp to make and how O’Neill would set up Sunderland. Finglas popped in all too briefly for a quick catch-up. The effervescent Nines arrived with Norway and his mates. I’d not seen Norway since the Stoke match last season, there was a lot of fat to chew over. Hoops Eternal with all 3 of his sons arrived, we’ve always got on really well, today was no exception. All too soon the pub was emptying as kick off approached. As I made my way to the ground I was left with two thoughts. Firstly how proud each of those fathers must be of their children. Stan, Col and HoopsE all have cracking sons and secondly what a great bunch of people I’ve been lucky enough to stumble across. For anyone who thinks of wandering in on spec and then doesn’t, I would strongly advise them to do so. You will not be disappointed.
Very enjoyable meet up, as ever. You're right mate, we all got the tactics wrong, although Staine's mate did say he thought Sunderland would go 4-4-2 and he was right.
Or perhaps the Vatican City Papal board? "bhoys oh bhoys oh bhoys oh bhoys" - my Acadian (French) father-in-law is always saying that.
Here here. Well said Roller. It was great to see everyone again today. I finally got to meet the lovely Beth.. at last. Our lucky mascot from Norway returned and provided us with another win, he doesn't do defeats. Everytime Norway's over, we win. Simples. Cheers lads and lass, let's do it again soon.
Great write up Roller.......Hope my p***ed up mate wasnt too much of an annoyance . Great to meet you all, looking forward to the next one
Lovely a 'write up' there, of all the crap that is written on forums, from myself included, it is articles such as this one that make a forum .............. well done to you all. Aussie
