The Guardian carried this story today as Egyptian courts pass sentences on football rioters and police: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/mar/09/egyptian-death-football-rioters
Very sad, and i'd be interested to get some views from some of our Egyptian supporters as to 'views on the ground' about how culpable the police were in their view, and whether there are similarities to the SYP handling of Hillsborough as this sounds like a bit of a cover up with police getting away free of charge
I think you have it probably about right, I have been to Egypt a lot on business over the years, and been to football matches there. The police are poorly paid, badly trained and a rule unto themselves. I would put money on it being them at fault as you say similarities to Hillsborough seem very likely.
