Apparently QPR's owner still considering a new ground for the club. Seriously rich!! More money than sense...ideal football owner some would say.
Would be the most reasonable thing they've spent on thus far; a new stadium will be there for decades, while Samba/Park/Hoilett/Bosingwa/Granero/Green (who likely cost as much on transfer fees/bonuses/wages as a new stadium, in one year) are asset value are rather fleeting. If they get a 30k-40k seat stadium, at least they'll likely find a buyer if they become insolvent; if they stick in Elland Road, it's a shockingly familiar tale, right down to the crumbling infrastructure.
Good analysis of QPR's finances on twitter right now: https://twitter.com/SwissRamble/ Some quite alarming figures from their point of view!
Loftus is a shack, much like The Dell was. But the catchment area has huge potential, so investing in the ground makes sense on the face of it. Fernandez must think QPR can challenge Chelsea and Fulham for West London dominance, and maybe they can.
We are fortunate in our catchment area...huge potential if we become successful in the PL. And no one mention plastics...everyone starts being a fan somewhere and we need bums on seats to finance ground enlargement and purchasing power.
Huge defeat for Reading, whilst Sunderland are still right in it. Right now, I'm saying Reading down and then any two from five.
I think Sunderland will probably be fine, they've got a few tough fixtures coming up but reckon they have the quality to see it out... so two from five, but more likely from four.
Villa-QPR in seven days time. Quite possibly the biggest game of the season to date, concerning the bottom section of the table. Huge.
I just see Villa are better then people think, QPR beat us as we played totally **** and look at Sunderland's defence today.
I would be delighted if the league stayed as it is tonight.... Villa too bigger club to see in the Championship and is a relatively local away game for us from the Northampton Massive
I should add that this assumes we don't lose at their place! Back-to-back away games against Man Utd and Arsenal. They might not get hammered, but I cannot see anything other than two defeats there. 23 points from 31 games would not be looking pretty. Failure to then beat us, would be the final straw for them, imo.
Aside from QPR's massive wage bill, I feel QPR will survive now that there is momentum to their game now. Their next few games are definitely winnable and in Loic Remy they possess a class striker. Why he chose to go to QPR I don't know! Can't be the thought of winning trophies! But he is class as is Samba!! Added to that Harry managed the "great escape" with Pompey from a similar position and I feel a sense of deja vu again. The total to survive will around 38 so from that we need three wins a a draw at least from the last nine. I still feel Sunderland could be one of the teams involved along with Reading and one of Villa, ourselves, and Wigan. Fulham and West Ham will surely muster at least two more wins to put them within sight of the 40 point mark. Let us hope Wigan get to the Cup Final so they are distracted in their attempts to survive. PS: Remember folks that teams like Middlesboro, Brighton and Palace reached the FA Cup Final and went down.
Three from Reading, Aston Villa, Wigan and QPR...not changed my tune. I think they will get the odd wins but not enough to save them. It will be who is 4th from bottom when the music stops. We will creep along and be 15-16th. I hoped we might be a bit higher, but I don't think we are converting the chances enough.
I am confident...I am always confident after a game as long as we are out of the zone...I just fall to pieces the day before the game and on the day of the game.
