It means that when we play Villa next week, they may feel a draw isn't the worst result for them and that will be to our advantage, also it means by the time we play Reading away they may be doomed - they've got Manu and Arsenal coming up... It's in our own hands, let's do it, you Rssssssssssssss

Well I can't agree with that. There's lots of reasons why a draw would have been better....the most important being we'd be 2 points closer to safety. Plus the psychological advantage of being within 1 result of leaping clean out of the bottom 3 in one swoop. The game against Villa will be a cagey one, Villa probably going for it early with us trying to break. Reading being one point higher doesn't make any difference in my mind as I think they have a hard run in and are on a run of 5 defeats already. IF we could get 4 points from the next 2 away games...preferably with the win at Villa then I'd be very happy.

Unfortunately this game has all the hallmarks of a draw. Villa have 7pts from last 6 games; while we have 8pts.
To fight for a win will be an amazing result and will catapult us forward in the battle and set us up for the Foolham game. Interesting comments regarding the Wigan game being put back due to FA cup; could work for us as Wigan will hopefully be tired and either elated/deflated and not on full focus.

Just for fun...and also to show how current form is going... I did a comparison of how things would look if all the teams got as many points in their last 9 remaining games (10 for Wigan) as they got in the last 9 games.
    Newcastle 40pts (+10 points)
    Sunderland 38 (+8)
    Southampton 38 (+10)
    QPR 36 (+13)
    A Villa 36 (+9)
    Wigan 33 (+9)
    Reading 33 (+10)

Obviously it won't work that way due to so many reasons but it puts a smile on my face which is the most important thing.

Nah. They're in the same mode as us, looking for wins all the way to the end, so they'll come out strong as we will. But we shan't be concerned! We'll just keep on rolling as we have the last couple matches.

    Onwards and upwards

I think I'd rather be playing a nervous Villa team that just got a point from a "six-pointer" than one that just got a bit of confidence back with a important away win against a relegation rival. If I was that miserable Lambert fellow then I'd be looking for a second consecutive win in a six-pointer as yet another stride to PL safety.

To be fare to Hughes, he did say we wouldn't be in a relegation battle while he's in charge, and he isn't! And here we are :p

Yes, and if he were still in charge we wouldn't be in a battle, we be be down already.
