    Dear Wizered

Potential Ashton Gate Development - Fans Consultation

    Give us your ‘Wish List’!

What we heard at the first fans consultation meeting:

Blank canvas especially stadium interior, forget images you have seen - we fans have to provide the ideas.

Fan experience has been put at the top of the agenda but consultation period will be short.

This is the first step in consultation – please reply ASAP!

The site is big enough for the stadium because it includes the Hirerite area & study centre house.

This enables movement of whole pitch from Dolman to Williams by 5 metres to enable revamp of the Dolman.

The Dolman can then have access from the rear through vomitories and not from front & sides as now.

Williams replacement will be moved 5m and be a two tier design, the rest will be one tier.

Williams sees biggest expansion and is the iconic or signature feature – we need ideas here especially.

    Floor 1 Restaurant 340, Lounge 450, shop & museum
    Floor 2 Directors & Corporates
    Floor 3 Facilities

Shop, museum (through shop) and pub will be on corner approached along Wedlock Way from Winterstoke Road.

Ground floor of Williams fully glazed area – ideas wanted so it is not soulless area.

East End / Wedlock is historic, must be maximised with vomitory access, likely boxes at top to bring into 21st century.

Acoustics will inevitably be altered but as this is a major issue and a specialist in acoustics has been appointed.

We emphasised acoustics as one of the top three fans’ concerns along with basic design and capacity.

Ground capacity will increase from 18,600 to 27,082
    Dolman from 6,434 to 7,144
    Atyeo 4,200 to 4,249
East End / Wedlock from 3,220 to 4,731
    Williams from 4,685 to 9,958
    NB: All figures are estimates

The corners can be filled to assist reverberation if only with ‘wrap materials’ until fully utilised.

The team are aware of the unique nature of each stand and its fans.

One way of keeping the identity is to provide safe standing areas at each end of the Wedlock.

Continuous concourse could connect the length of Dolman, through Wedlock to the length of Williams.

Players facilities move from Atyeo to Williams and players will run out at half-way.

Offices move to the Atyeo and all stands will have own food and toilet facilities + Wi-Fi.

Ideas wanted from other grounds – notably Wolves.

Fans going to Wolves on 16 March* – let’s have a report!

Complete your day with the Steve Lansdown Q&A at the Walkabout, Queen Street, WV1 3BJ, www.walkabout.eu.com

The architects are visiting Wolves, Brighton and at least two others to talk with their equivalent teams.

Away fans will be in corner of Atyeo and BCFC needs a secure plan for them.

Coloured lighting can be used extensively to prepare the stadium separately for football and rugby. Bayern Munich was cited as a good example.

Development previously piecemeal – chance now to tie whole together – the concourse idea could help.

Car spaces now 450 must be maintained if possible.

    Entrances will be properly designed.

How to let us have your ideas
Please post these in this thread on the OTIB forum: http://tinyurl.com/brka7vt or send an e-mail with your ‘Wish List’ to [email protected]

    Many thanks

Mike Adams, BCSCT rep on the working party

Its time for all these working FP/stsc blah to explain what actually is going on. Pictures are being chucked around of a stadium that has not been deisgned or!!

If you know capacities of stands and they will be one tier = Dolman, Wedlock, Atyeo two tier = Williams. Moving williams five metres, restaurants etc. They must have ****ing good idea of that they are doing already.

Acoustician?? The architect who designed Ashton Vale thought a stadium should be open and airy like cardiff. That is good acoustics to him. So what actually would an acoustician look at?

One way of keeping the identity is to provide safe standing areas at each end of the Wedlock.

At the ends!! And after the law has changed. what identity is he on about??

East End / Wedlock is historic, must be maximised with vomitory access, likely boxes at top to bring into 21st century.

If boxes are put in there is no interior left to put ideas forward for. What identity is it this team is on about?

    I have just sent this email to Mike Adams;

My thanks to you and all other City supporters who give of their time so freely and willingly to promote out hopes and dreams. I was the secretary in the 90's of the City's "Football Council" so know how much of your time you will spend trying to get the club to agree to anything let alone changing their minds.

    So here is my list;

    1. No pillars to obscure views; Except at ends of the Dolman as I assume that while the seating and access will be refurbished, the current roof will remain for cost reasons.

    2. Maximise seating capacity; To achieve this, fill in the corners Dolman-Wedlock and Wedlock-Williams. Apart from a future rebuild of the Atyeo, this is our last chance to enlarge Ashton Gate without wholesale purchase of local houses.

    3. Concourse; I agree with the idea of a continual concourse from Dolman through Wedlock to Williams.

    4. Safe-Standing in Wedlock; I would put this in the aforementioned corners if the club believes that there is any realistic chance of a change in the law about seating/standing.

    5. Boxes; My preference is for boxes to be sited in Williams and, if practical, in the Dolman. I believe that boxes in the Wedlock may detract from making the area a hotbed of noisy support. However, I also realise the importance of the revenue they would bring so would accept at them at the rear of the seating, if siting in the Dolman is considered impractical on a construction or cost basis. Or even, if the Club considered it would be able to fill all of them, in all three stands.

    6. Toilets / Refreshments; As an elderly gentleman, and with similar waterworks problems to many of my age and gender, I would like the number of toilets to be at least 30% more than currently exist in the Atyeo.

    7. Acoustics; Some supporters who watch from the Wedlock believe that this has the best acoustics. They are correct in that sound reverberates around inside the Wedlock. But very little of this is heard in other parts of the current stadium. It may prove difficult to convince them of this fact.
So I think differently to them. The priority is for some reverberation within the stands but the noise must also be allowed out to the pitch and other stands.

    8. An off the wall idea on the subject of noise; Would the Club be permitted to instal muffled microphones in the roof and amplify the sound of the crowd back through loudspeakers. Is it against Football League or FA regulations? If not then apart from an installation cost, an ongoing way to amplify the noise levels throughout the stadium to a level not than the current PA system so as not to annoy local residents.

I would send an e mail, but do not see the point.

Its curious how detailed this "fans" working party can be, and then can't be. It is pretty clear that entire elements of the stadium is already designed. The reference to interior looks to be a case of you window dress it.

Images should be released for fans to make informed decisions.

Interesting points, but that in your theory means the fans in the Eastend should be Atyeo. The reality has been by and large it was the last stand to be used. A case of anywhere but the Atyeo. It is not up to it as an "end".

The priority I hope will to be build something that a specific type of support want. There are there other stands to use differently. I do not think that will happen. I can see a scenario where a part of the clubs tradition disappears much like it has elsewhere and Atyeo II gets built.

I tried twice to send an email as per my post #3 above but on both occasions I have a Maeler-Demon saying that the email address will not accept it because it thinks it is spam. Any ideas anyone?

Send it to an email address in this country, so they can forward it for you. They could have their spam settings high to prevent agents and abuser's getting through.
