No wat were winning this. The stage is set and script is written and worst of all it'd be our 3rd league win on the spin which never ever do but worse still Lawro's put the lurgy on us by predicting us 2-1 winners. Draw is best we can hope for all things considered I'm afraid. Were not ready yet, especially mentally. Hope the Anfield crowd actually gets up for this one though as they could play a big part. Besides the Zenit game its been absolutely awful there this season. I've never been when it so quiet and you feel uncomfortable singing in some sections as if you're pissing people off or something. Really weird this season and dunno why when last season the league was well worse and the footy quality was too?
There was some very sound advice in Lawro's prediction this week: It makes you wonder why the managers of all the other clubs Spurs have played this season have never thought of that for themselves.
thfc, i think we should concentrate on cutting the supply to the player off personally, if Bale doesn't have the ball not a lot he can do with it, obviously he will get the ball at stages, but the less he has it the better. the mancs didn't man mark Ronaldo, they cut off the supply to him, and man marked Alonso who was the source of their attacks, nearly paid off for them. all this hype over the game probably be a boring 0-0
Toela, you gotta look at this from our point of view too. - we've gotta lose at some point! Our run can't (and wont) carry on forever. We have to get beaten at some point soon, that's the way football goes. I personally think the script is set for you guys to beat us. This will be our toughest game in ages. - you're playing well.
Brilliant thread! Interesting with the amount of players who played for both. Its like if you have to move to another club you can only move to Spurs/Liverpool. Deemed acceptable. Actually found myself quite liking Spurs recently as they play good football, Bale is brilliant, I like AVB, and its good to see somewhere else mixing it with the bastards that are United and Chelsea. 2-1 Liverpool.
It's double bad news for you regarding Lawro's Curse, he's predicted us 0 wins in our last 6 games(now 7) picking up 4 points and in those games we actually got 14. I think it will be a tough game, we've not been playing brilliantly(more doing just enough) despite our good run but Liverpool looking to play an open game should suit us. It's another really important game for us though, we could go 10 ahead of Arsenal, 5 ahead of Chelsea and within 2 of City. All with a game extra played, of course but it's a big opportunity for us to really put some pressure on and twist the screw on the other clubs who aren't enjoying the best of times. Despite the talk of the importance of 3 points, I don't expect it, I just wish we were playing Inter again.
But Yid, it's double good news for us as well. AVB ain't going to change his shape and therefore you back 4 are neatly set up for our style of attack. It should be a good game. I've predicted a 3-0 win for us (mostly because when I do that we do win!). However, it could be a boring 0-0 with both sides cancelling each other out!
I was impressed with Liverpool's home performance against Zenit and recent league results tell me that Rogers is starting to make things work. Put that against Spurs looking stronger as the season progresses and you have a game that is hard to predict. I wouldn't be surprised if we lost but I am going for a 2 - 2 draw and looking forward to an open attacking game of football.
No footy for my lad this weekend, I'm looking forward to being able to sit and watch this with a few beers.
Now wouldn't it be really good if both sets of supporteres were talking about "an open attacking game of football." after the match
I was just joking about the Lawro Curse because others had mentioned it, I don't actually think it benefits us. We don't always play that high of a line despite what most people think. Against Arsenal AVB was trying to surprise Arsene by coming out as the more attacking side but that was met by Wenger's surprise of setting his team up to run around like it was a 20 minute match. The reason I said you'll suit us is that I expect you to try and take the game to us because we're effective on the counterattack.
Last time I predicted we'd get spanked, we came out 3-0 winners. So same again this time, Spurs will smash us.
Rumours that both Coutinho n Downing start 2moro, with no Allen or Henderson, very attacking by BR if true
HOLTBY ON LIVERPOOL: Lewis Holtby is preparing for 'a dream game' at Liverpool on Sunday. If selected, it will be the first time the midfielder snapped up from Schalke in January has appeared at Anfield. It will mean that little more to Lewis as well as he revealed recently that his father, Christopher, is an Everton fan! Both teams are in fine form. Liverpool have scored goals galore - 20 - in their last five wins in the Premier League and are up to seventh on a run of two defeats in their last nine. We are on a run of 12 matches unbeaten in the Premier League and travel to Merseyside looking for a fifth win on the trot in league action, form that has seen us climb up to third. “It’s a dream game, a fantastic game for us and another three points to aim for,” said Lewis. “Anfield is a stadium I’ve always dreamed of playing in, it’s third against seventh and a really tough game but one we’re all looking forward to.” Lewis came on for the last 20 minutes of Thursday night’s 3-0 win against Inter Milan in the Europa League Round of 16, first leg. “It was a fantastic performance, the first half was incredible,” he said. “We had so much space and we created so many chances, we could have scored more goals. Brad Friedel did his job as well. We’re in great form and we’ve got to maintain it.”
Could really do with a LFC win today. A good performance with a win. Not an unlucky draw or controversial defeat, not a refs decision just a good performance and win. Easy!
