Nothing to do with Catholicism then? Just work hard, behave well. Basically a good school. So how come the state is providing better schools for Catholics? Should not every child, regardless of their parent's "faith", be entitled to the same standard of education?
The ethos would of course be borne out of core Catholic values. Values that do not compromise any other faith. In much the same way that people are moral without a belief in a creator. People can adopt an ethos without having to share a faith. Of course Children from homes of all beliefs and none should be entitled to the same standard of education. Rich Jews can send their kids to private school in the exact same way that rich Hindus/Sikhs/Unitarians etc can and both can deliver a better education that way. Is that fair? The State is not providing better schools for Catholics. Catholic Schools are providing a better education pound for pound. There is also the notion that some Faith Schools are voluntary aided. That includes the one we are talking about here and that makes for a 3 tiered education system. That £50 per pupil a year or whatever it is makes a difference. Not to mention any additional funding that may come from the diocese or whatever. The specialist academies experiment seemed to be working but it cost a lot. The Government stopped funding a couple of years back and I feel that is a shame.
As a capitalist, I haven't got a problem with people paying for their kids education, they can pay for whatever they want. Just about. When it comes to state funded education, it's a different story. The state is providing better schools for Catholics if the local Catholic school is the best in the area yet it discriminates against non-Catholics. We've already established that these schools aren't instructing pupils in the Catholic faith so, it seems, their purpose is simply to ensure that Catholics receive a higher standard of education than the WASPs all paid for by the state.
If the state was the only founder of faith schools then you may have a point.... But they aren't, so you don't.
I don't understand what the founder has to do with anything unless you are trying to justify the ongoing expenditure against past donations?
Should schools attach themselves to any religion? I should think any public service/function should distance themselves from a religion that continues to prove itself to be hypocritical.
Like the shaggin kids and priests and covering it up religion. I would hope God has summat to say about that.
Shagging kids and covering it up does not make the religion hypocritical. It makes the practicioners of that religion who do that sort of thing hypocritical.
Yet the practitioners of that religion get caught again and again despite cover ups all the way to il papa. That religion is beyond disgusting and way beyond hypocrisy Filthy self serving animals. No more, no less. We supposedly went to war against the Taliban for much less.
Note that I believe in God because I choose to. I would hope that my God is gonny kick the **** out of the hypocrites.
Sober up man. You can level the same or similar allegations against any number of organisations, including several state sponsored organisations.... But you don't.
