The people on here who said they dont want this take over might not have read everything they said they would do.

    Wipe out the clubs debt
    Make funds available for transfers
    Reduce ticket prices
And they want to make Arsenal one of the biggest names in world football.

    And you dont want that?

I think it's easy to make promises and much harder to actually deliver.

It seems strange to me that these unkown people are making rash promises based on the susposed concerns of Arsenal fans.

I've just seen this on Twitter
    Geoff Arsenal‏@GeoffArsenal

Hearing The consortium will be making a bid to buy out Kronke and then Usmanov will join them. Usmanov will be the face of the club.

I'm sure Kroenke will not consent to it. Here's to hoping though. GeoffArsenal is a pretty reliable source <whistle>

This is probably not a very popular opinion with some on here . . but despite no trophies I think the current board have steered this club through a pretty tricky period quite well considering. They also seem to have made a platform for the club to build again, as slowly as that can sometimes seem to take.

Mine have'nt been nailed to anyone's mast as yet. Like I said, I don't think Kroenke will sell out. I'm aware of the history of U before reading this article so it's not new to me. We can choose as a club: stay where we are, which is clearly not moving forward but gradually declining as a force both in the Prem and in Europe. Or become another club founded on someone else's oil money reserves. And the thing is, despite saying they will invest, will new owners actually invest? You cannot know whether they will keep their promises. So what is best for Arsenal as a football club? I have a strong suspicion we will still be in the same position as we are now, next season, with regards to ownership. I cannot see too much changing although something needs to change and quickly.

the guy behind the bid is rumoured to be Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, nephew of the Saudi king. He's worth $20 billion, so he's pretty rich.

When you don't win trophies it looks like that, but our club has gone through a transformation since Highbury and the intervening years. It was always going to be a long term project and the underpinning issue was paying for the stadium, which is pretty much done. I think selling out due to a lack of patience now could simply derail the club as much as it might improve it.

Agreed it wouldn't make much sense to sell out, but we keep hearing about the promised reserves of cash and they are never invested unless a key player leaves, which causes us to have a weak squad. I know that the cash is also for wages, etc, but we as fans would like to see more investment in key areas of the team, not simply throwing cash at the problem and hoping it works. If the board simply did this, one summer, as a long term investment, they would not have to try and get players in every summer, we could have a settled squad as we have done in the past. This would be the ideal. Anyway, I digress.

The thing is its easy to argue one way or the other. Lets take Usmanov for example.

    For
Hes Russias richest man so has money to throw at the club and is a lifelong Arsenal supporter. David Dein who is Arsenal through and through backed him which adds a lot of weight to his bid. He will take the club forward and bring back the glory days. And add to that his lnog standing rumoured fued with Abromavich and he wants to get one over him, so will do whatever it takes to make us beter than Chelsea for that reason as well. On top of that Arsenal seem to be very poor at negotiating in the transfer market and most of our rumoured attempts to buy players fall through. Usmanov would be ruthless and make sure he has the best staff at the club so would make us more effective in the transfer market as well. There has been a lot of contradicting information coming out of the club for years such as how much money there is to spend on players, so the only evidence we have is that the club has made money on transfers rather than spen. Its lies and the current regime at the club cannot be trusted. There is no reason to expect Usmanov to be worse. During this time we have not won a single trophy, success on the pitch does not appear to be the biggest motivation any more, money is.

    Against
Usmanov is a murky character with a dubious past. We do not know his true intentions for the club and he would disrupt all of then good work the board have done. He makes a lot of claims such as being an Arsenal supporter but there is no reason to believe anything he says. His ownership would be an unknown quantity and as the saying goes, better the devil you now. The current regime have built the stadium and are in the process of generating more money so all of the signs are that our fortunes will improve. They have kept us near the top during the time of redevelopment and have proven that they want to maintain the long term stability of the club.

Referencing the article Cym points out. It would make little sense to sell now that most of the debt has been paid off and the club have set a platform to build. If an offer like this came in ten years ago, it would have made a lot of sense but not now.

What does remain though is that we need to invest in the squad. Although the figures that have been banded about seem to be an exaggeration of what we might actually have available as a 'surplus'
