Kentish Man - this is really bad news on Barcham imo, as you say I think we expected Cody. So that's two of my five keeps gone.
I really did feel like crying about Barcham going, But have to say just before I saw that I was talking about him and said I expect he will leave so it is not like a shock in a way to me.
that name Oldsparky got me confused for a minute there thought it was the one from the Cardiff board lol
An excellent post - I posted on the official site, that I can't see the way forward from here, however, you have thrown some sensible light on that. Correctly you state that many times last season, I felt Martin and Barcham didn't gel, although good players in their own right. Hessy stated he needed a left back i.e. that being Martin - so assuming Martin agrees a deal, then I take your valid points I'm gutted but we do have to try and move on from it, wishing Barcham all the best for the future.
I think Oli has never been good, I think he will go at the end of the next season, to stay he will have to do something amazing this season coming up,.
Barchams gone and I wish him luck, don't see it as the end of the world though. We can replace him with a model of equal talent, and I've heard they come in full size as well.
Good luck to Barcham and Cody, I really thought Barcham would have another go at League 2 with us after being injured for the majority of the season. But in a way I'm kinda happy as he deserves to play at League 1 level at least after what he's given us and as Kentish Man has mentioned, him and Martin (assuming he signs) wouldn't have worked as well. If Palmer can play like he did before his injury I feel he can have a good season and can hopefully get a few more balls into the box for Bayo to knock in. I feel we may see more of Stefan Payne who I'm sure has learnt from Cody just by watching from the bench. The Dover "friendly" being cancelled suggests Hess has been looking at Birchall. In regards to Cody, I was resigned to losing him after the Barnet game. Even if we got into the playoffs and were promoted it would have been very hard to keep hold of him. I reckon he could end up at a mid table League 1 club and whoever they may be, I'll be keeping a look out for them.
