I've been 'disenchanted' with football for a long time mitch - doesn't stop me having an underlying love of the game still, nor has it eroded my passion for Leicester City (each result has a direct effect on my mood at the time and sometimes for a lot longer!) The reality is that football is now the epitome of greed and selfishness from the bodies running the sport, the owners / investors down through to many of the players - the only ones remaining true to the 'ideals'' of football are the 'real' fans - i.e those that support their clubs (usually home town or through family connection) through thick and thin, many with no real hope or expectation of success or glory (like the Hull fans for instance ) ..
From http://www.sheffwed.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=311941#ixzz2MxzVNwFM - Pearson was January's manager of the month thanks to five league wins on the spin but his side have won just one of their last six matches. Curse of the Manager of the Month.
Unfortunately FF, some of these "real fans" don't exactly fill me with confidence either. Said fans can usually be heard on Saturdays at around 5pm, or on Monday evenings...
One thing that annoys me more then anything about radio phones ins is this "Right i didnt go to the game today but I listened on the radio and I just want to say what complete rubbish that was, we didnt look like scoring, Pearson out" ETC For that reason I dont listen to the football forum anymore. Too many armchairs idiots just want to bash the team. If you didnt see the game dont go to the media complaining
Stupid decision if they sack Pearson before the end of the season, totally mental really. The way football is these days I reckon it's promotion or the highway for Nigel in reality. Patience is non existent when it comes to foreign owners and promotion and in their eyes he'll have had a couple of pops at it. Yep, it's deliver or do one I reckon.
It's utter bullshit, but if in the unlikely event it is true, I personally will have lost all faith with our football club. Pearson might not be my favourite manager in the world, but I believe he's the best man for the job right now, and has been loyal to this club. However, after the farce a couple of years ago, if this rumour picks up I wouldn't be that surprised if he walked.
Hopefully, bullshit or not, this will spur the team on to fight for him over the next few games. Players like Knocky, Marshall, Drinkwater, Keane, James and DeLaet have come to the fore under Pearson.
I agree Nigel has given alot of players their first real chance in football and they need to step up and re pay him for that faith. Lets put in a good performance and get the 3 points tommorow
As shocking as it may be I find myself agreeing with you all. As much as I dislike the way Pearson departed the KC I think that rumours of his demise, at this stage of the season, are ridiculous, however, seemingly with many a foreign owner, it unfortunately appears to be becoming par for the course unless they see immediate success. I did ask, as some will have noticed, what you all thought Pearson's fate would be should he not get you promoted. Obviously I got the usual 'answers' from the usual suspects, however even I didn't think that the owners would be so shortsighted that they would consider dropping a ticking time bomb, which is basically what they've done, into a potential promotion campaign at this stage of the season!
Had Pearson not have left first time we would be in the prem by now. We need to back him all the way. If we dont go up this season I would still be 100% behind him to get us promotion next season, I think we are still recovering from Sven's trolley dash and that has restricted Nigel in the transfer market as until high earners are shifted he cant go out and pay decent wages for other players.
Would be crazy to get rid of Pearson at this stage of the season, but we have seen this sort of reaction before from foreign owners. He will go in the summer if we don't get promoted and even if we do i think he will still get the bullet as the owners want someone more high profile to develop their brand. Pearson doesn't help himself with his arrogance when being interviewed. His tactical abilities have been questioned by many and by all accounts he is as stand offish and bolshie with staff and players at the club. If the owners do get rid (and i hope they don't for our clubs sake) my favourite to take over would be Nigel Adkins.
Not going to happen. If we don't go up this year, which is beginning to look likely, then I fear for Pearson with the owners ready to wield the axe. From my point of view, I'd like him to be kept on for another season, as with this really young squad of players another season if we can keep them all would be good for them and I'd have high hopes of us doing well next season. Watch this space I guess.
FFS!!! We were the best in the league a while back... now its just a little blip of poor form. Every team goes through poor form and you cant just sack your manager each time!! And if we dont go up... so what? No one will build a better squad than NP! He brings in young hungry improving players who will only get better as the seasons go by.
Er.We have a much better team under Bruce. His ability to gel players who where ostricized under Nige shows far better man management skills.I think there are others who would do well given your spending power. This is not intended as a wind up but as an honest assessment. Bellamy has been accomodated at Cardiff.Colin has accomodated the controversial one.We have Macca.SAF put up withRoy Keane.I think Nige will struggle to manage top players.
