As much as i dislike Charles Green, the head of Newco Rangers, Sadly the man has a point. link www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/rangers-target-english-league-staying-1749945

It will be very interesting to see what happens as IF Green wins,, then it will certainly leave the way open for Celtic and others to also join if they so wish. It could mean the end of scottish football as we know it now.

The big question is where / which league would Newco Rangers and others have to start at ? IMO @ the lowest league level in england.

    Certainly food for thought.......:emoticon-0105-wink:

It would breach EU Competition law if Newco couldn't join the English league? What a load of bollocks

It's a crock of ****, it's not against European Law, it's a private organisation with rules determined by it's own members.

    Pompie Rangers? Sounds silly that.

It's the English FA, and English Leagues, ok I know we have some Welsh in but that's not a real country. The Jocks are pushing for independence, why the hell would we let them in our league?

They are more than welcome to play in England. When they qualify for European games.

Would be like Juventus trying to join our leagues ffs.

There'd be a massive outcry if this was allowed. They'd have to start at the bottom, and the increased costs on all those English teams having to go up there, not to mention the trouble we'd see at matches from their hooligan fans.

Plus, most Jocks would support ANY other team against England, why the hell would they want to join the English leagues?

Stupidest idea I've seen raised from North of the border for a long time.

They brought in rules to prevent that happening again.

    Charles Green is just paranoid.

He thinks the Scottish FA hate him.

    That's not strictly true.

    Every ****er hates him.

Whine, whine ****ing whine. Whinge ****ing whinge.

I've been doing some more research into this, with a lot of reading round the subject.

After careful consideration of all of this new evidence I have come to the conclusion that Charles Green is a ****ing moron

If say they were allowed to join but at the 10th level who would play for them knowing it could take a whole career to get them up the leagues

They wouldn't struggle to attract the best players at each level.

I'd love to see them join our league system, so long as when they just achieved promotion to our professional leagues a new rule came in stating no Scottish teams are allowed in the football league.

Why should they get to start that high? It'd be unfair on whichever teams have to be relegated/denied promotion as a result. If they did play in England, which in itself is a preposterous suggestion based on all the points above and since nobody wants them, they should have to start at whatever the lowest level is in some kind of regional extreme-North league.

The Scots should just forget about football altogether and stick to what they're good at. Making whisky and frying Mars Bars.

    Green states in that article:

"I have taken legal counsel, because let's be clear: it is a breach of European competition law to deny Scottish clubs, not just Rangers, the right to play in England."

If this is the case then what's to stop any team joining any league in Europe ?

He's bluffing cos he knows Scottish football needs The Old Firm otherwise it sinks without a trace. He's just posturing to gain an advantage over the SFA
to be used at some point in the future.

I imagine they'll wait for a team to go bust, it happens very frequently at that level. Then Rangers would take their place. Also, you would have to consider the travel costs; the regional leagues are quite broad and you can have teams pretty far away from each other being put into the same league. These part time and amateur clubs cannot afford to travel to Glasgow as 1) The fuel costs and bus rental would be expensive and 2) If the match fell on a week night, as games at that level often do, you have to consider that the players will have other jobs to go to in the morning and it would be a massive ask for them to get time off just so that they can play football.

Rangers would almost certainly be put into Level 6 or at most, Level 7 (which is where Ferriby currently are). It's just a question of how long they would be willing to wait for a space to open up because as you rightly said, it wouldn't be fair to relegate or deny somebody promotion for another club's cause.

I think Chilton has a point - Green wants to posture to attempt to put pressure on the SFA by threatening to leave if they do not get promotion if they win the league, which is what is looking likely with the re-shuffling of the Scottish divisions.

I think they were lucky to even get into the Scottish Third Division by default. As a new club they should have had to compete with other non-league clubs to be elected, (OK they probably would have won anyway but I didn't like the default assumption that they should automatically be in the League).

If they must join English football then how about they start in the North Northumberland League Division 2:

Theres no chance theyll be in any of englands divisions, they have just beem royally ****ed by the sfa and with the wanted reshuffling this season winning the league would be a complete waste of time.. Scottish football would die without Rangers, they're still getting 45k every home game
