I am quite aware that Paisley won the old European cup 3 times, and quite an achievement it was, despite the fact only 1 team from each country was allowed to enter. Nowadays though thanks to the stronger country's having multiple entry's the competition is far tougher to win, and since the changes, and the changing of the name to Champuons League, no manager has won it 3 times. That's the point I was getting at
I would love to think we couldn't, as I can't stand the ****, but we obviously can afford him. Why wouldn't the best team in England be able to afford him? I can't imagine he's on any less than RVP and Rooney are on. Hopefully SAF will stay on for a few more seasons anyways, and he can continue to have Chelsea's measure in the league most years, despite your lot's laughable spending. What was it 100 million last summer? and your in 4th place
True, maybe I went a little over the top, after all they still have the opportunity to turn things round, against those European giants Steau Bucharest
Your club website states it has 3 wins in the premier European club competition(no distinguishing between the trophies), if the present format is harder to win why didn't Utd win the trophy under the old format lots of times? Oh yes only the League Champions entered the competition back then, if only the Champions entered it under the new format Utd wouldn't have won the treble(and we wouldn't have won in 2005), the bottom line is that it's only mancs that distinguish between the two, yet their club built statues of the the men that won in 68. But whatever rocks your boat KS.
We have won Europes premier competition 3 times, though that is not the point I was making, if SAF had won it this year he would have been the first manager to win the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 3 times. I am not be littling Paisleys achievements, I am just pointing out that since the new more difficult format, no manager has won it 3 times. You cannot seriously dispute that the new Champuons League format has far more strength in depth, than the old European Cup. Only 1 team from Spain, 1 team from Italy, 1 team from Germany and one team from England. So 4 good teams in the whole competition. I know we only won the old European Cup once, and that was down to the fact most of our best players were tragically wiped out in the 50s, we did however recover to eventually win it in 68, but we then fell apart when Sir Matt left, and were **** for the majority of the 1970s and 80s. I'm not making any excuses for those years, you guys were better than us, and deserved to win the trophies you did. You have won more Euro Cups than us, and we've won the more league titles. There doesn't need to be a big argument about it
I'm not arguing KS, i'm debating. And lets not forget Chelsea's magnificent win against Bayern on their own turf. Doesn't matter what their tactics were in the final, they had to get their first which was no easy task.
Fair play to them for doing it, but I still to this day cannot believe they got through those games in the way they did, it was even more miraculous than your lot in 05. Though Chelsea had had a fair few hard luck story's in the competition before that, so maybe it was there turn to get the run of the green
**** off you cretin, how the **** can it be more difficult to win now that three others have a chance?? If any thing it has made it the european equivalent of the Carling cup. Paisley's name is engraved in greatness as a true European master and not some pretend ****bag from Govan.
Are you twelve years old or something??? Ronaldo apart from costing something like £100 million is earning close to 300,000 pounds per week tax paid which in your book would cost you half a million pounds per week in wages alone!
Since when were we talking about Ronaldo? Are you sure it's not Ozzy Osborne you name yourself after, as clearly you've been taking similar hallucinogenic drugs
I think the clever money will be on The Special One taking over at United. Even if he doesn't, that same clever money is very unlikely to go on him returning to Chelsea. Why should he? The man has pride and a reputation, and the Chelsea job (whilst Mad Dog is in charge) is now for someone who has neither. My question to you Chelsea boys, is could you ever forgive Mourhino if (when) he does take over at United? Surely, that would be as great a betrayal as Campbell joining AFC?
Arsenal were your arch rivals, Campbell was Spurs since he could learn to add and multiply and ran down his contract then left you for free and went on to win the double with Arsenal. United are not Chelsea's rivals and there is more chance of Mourinho ending up at Chelsea than United. The safe money would be on Mourinho going to PSG, the smart money would be on Chelsea. Fergie is going nowhere.
i disagree district, people seem to forget that fergie is an old boy and if you ask me he does not look well, i am pretty sure that he has been advised to stand down asap.
DL, I'm sorry to say (and I absolutely am not wumming you when I say this) that you are deluded if you truly believe that Mourhino will return to CFC whilst Mad Dog is in charge. You can no longer have it both ways - either you want a decent, long-term manager, or you want to keep taking Mad Dog's 20 pieces of silver. Which is it, for you? Look at the facts. United will give The Special One a job for life, if he continues to do what he is doing (and there is no one other than SAF, in world football, who consistently delivers the goods), whereas Mad Dog will sack you, whatever you achieve for him. That's because he's mad. The only managers who will work for him are those who no other club (the size of CFC) will employ. I'm sorry, but Mourhino does not have to take the same **** that he took the first time round, at CFC. Why should he, when there are more attractive options open to him, at £ity, United, and PSG, to name but three? And don't tell me "yeah, but HiAG, he'll do it for the fans!" No, he won't. Fans are the same the world over. Or do you truly believe that United's fans (or £ity's or PSG's fans) won't idolize him as much as you guys did? You've got to wake up and smell the coffee on this one, DL. I know it isn't easy. I didn't like it when Levy got shot of Jol, and I didn't like it when he employed Redknapp, but that didn't stop it happening.
DL, I'm sorry to say (and I absolutely am not wumming you when I say this) That's all you do ****head!
Aslong as Mourinho doesn't get the sack from Madrid in the summer, I can see him staying with them for a while longer. He obviously wants to come back to England, and if he has been promised the Man United job, which is possible as he and Fergie are good friends. I think he will be quite happy to bide his time in Madrid until SAF finally calls it a day. We don't know for sure wether or not he is interested in the United job, or if he's already been promised it, but from his press conference it did sound like he was trying to build bridges with the United supporters. Maybe Mourinho is just mellowing in his old age, but his comments were very out of character if you ask me
I would be shocked if he doesn't leave Madrid in the summer. He doesn't get on with the press, the players or the fans and the owners don't tend to tollerate finishing so far below Barca. Winning the C.L may be the only way he doesn't get sacked...even if he wanted to stay. I don't buy into this 'promised' the United job. Fergie is on a rolling contract and will stay till he can't do it anymore. Is Jose meant to just sit around waiting for Fergie to retire like the football manager equivalent of Prince Charles...???behave.
