Pretty much disagree with all the above actually CJ!! 3-1 was a better result, but this was a more complete performance, regardless of the opposition. Defoe did alright but still is so frustrating. He did some really good stuff but equally was quite infuriating to his colleagues. And I cannot see the analogy with Sandro at all, although I agree that there is quality there. All opinions though mate.... Lol
Theres a bit coming up in the next ten mins where we had four players hunting down their right back. So impressive.
Well I was at the 3-1 game and maybe I was caught up in the emotion of the game to have a more balanced view of both matches. What isn't in doubt in my mind is that the atmosphere on that Champions league night was the best I have ever experienced at any football ground. Defoe was just a but rusty that's all. I think the signs were good he just didn't get the rub of the green and yes he was a bit selfish at times. I am not saying Sandro and Holtby are similar players just I have seen enough of Holtby to see there is great potential there. In Sandro's first game in the cup match v arsenal he did a few great things but also looked a bit out of his depth. I'm hoping Holtby can progress like Sandro did. I hope that explains my other post better. If not well I don't care! Ha ha!
I know Dona just answering Relayers questions! I've been done by the thread police twice tonight now! Ha ha!
I thought he was the only player to come out of that game with a respectable performance, had a bit of an arguement with some 606 peeps too who were saying he was never going to make it. lol I dont know what they saw, but I thought he looked fairly quick, strong and had a fairly good pass. Still will never forgive that line up though. WHL, Arsenal - Bently on the left, Sando's first game, pletikosas first game and Livermore in cb if i remember correctly. still took the game to extra time though and they needed a couple of pens to win!

I know exactly what you meant by the Holtby suggestion. Sandro did look both very, very good and also not quite adjusted to the league when he first came. But the ability was clear even though he was a little off the pace - same with Holtby.
