I absolutely hope this does not happen. I like the ethos of the club, even if I don't think the Board run it in a particularly great way sometimes. Arsenal make their own success, they don't buy it, and I hope they never do.
Greed, like ego, has no bounds. If he rejects it, it could be because he wants MORE...wait another year or so. Not necessarily because he loves the club. He's a businessman pure and simple.
WHAT!!!!!! You want to turn down a £1.5 Billion take over and all that will come with it... are you mad???
You never know what you're getting with foreign owners. You could get a Sheikh Mansour, who's willing to support the teams ambition financially, or you could end up like Malaga, who have Arab owners who've nearly bankrupted them.
I think this story is total ****e.I find it interesting how the susposed buyers are pandering to fans concerns such as ticket prices.Apparently they also want to return the "Old North Bank".I would like to know what a bunch of arabs would know about the "Old North Bank".I think it's extremely doubtful that any of them would have ever stood on the North Bank.
My theory is that it's a fake story the club have leaked to the press, to try and distract us from on field issues.
Has he got a seat on the board, and if so why not? Does he need 30% of shares to get in by default? Not that i'm an Usmanov fan but you'd think a man with that many shares should be on the board. Maybe it would shake things up? Things appear to be a little too cosy up there.
I think by getting to the 30% mark it gives Usmanov the right to look at all the clubs accounts. He hasn't got a seat on the board because Kroenke doesn't want to give him one.Usmanov would have to be voted on to the board at AFC's AGM.Obviously by owning approx 66% of the shares Kroenke can always vote against any proposal to vote Usmanov onto the board
There must be approx 5/6% of the shares in the hands of small shareholders.Usmanov can buy them if the owners want to sell.
Whatever people think about Usmanov, the fact that he hasn't got a seat on the board is highly unusual. For a majority shareholder to be frozen out in the way he has, tells you something about the autocratic way the board is run. My personal feeling is that whatever Usmanov's intentions, the board have put their own interests before the club's.
The rules where changed recently specifically because of Usmanov, so the club no longer have to show him the books if he reaches 30% of shares. Imo it was really dodgy that Arsenal were able to request and get this and makes me think there is more that they are trying to hide than we realise. Why esle would they want to hide the full accounts from a 30% share holder?
Interesting article in Forbes about the susposed did to buy AFC http://www.forbes.com/sites/bobbymc...r-bid-for-arsenal-arrived-only-a-decade-late/
It really wasn't that interesting you old git and I've wasted a few minutes of my life reading that. BTW is 'level' on your profile anyway linked to age?
