I think both of those are pretty wild assumptions to be honest. We would most likely have signed one of those midfielders even if we hadn't sold Modric (we signed Sig ages before we even sold Modric ffs), and we would still have Modric, who in case you're forgetting is a superb player. Bale would certainly not be in the reserves, he got into the team because of Benny's injury, and he stayed in the team further up the pitch because of his buccaneering performances at left-back. Nothing to do with our strikers.
It is my view that the yellow card (Bale's for the alleged simulation) will be appealed against and will be rescinded.
Bale deserved to be booked. I don't think there should be any argument over that. We are opening ourselves up for some deserved stick from other fans if we even think otherwise.
It's a shame Dempsey is injured he would be ideal for the second leg with his work rate and goal threat. When's he due back?
What I'm saying is necessity is the mother of invention. If Berbs had been knocking in 20 odd goals a season Levy might have kept his wallet in his pocket and Hudd/JJ etc. might have been sufficient. Our team has evolved and with Modric and Berbs it would have evolved differently. It may have been better, but knowing Levy he wouldn't have found another £60M without the Modric and Berbs money, so we would be £60M short of players elsewhere.
Defoe shouldn't get too much stick after tonight's game at least he has looked a goal threat. Parker has been excellent as well.
I didn't mean to open a can of worms I was just making a point about how quality this team would be with those 2 players!
Well done lads 3-0 and it could and probably should've been more but still it's a great win and afforded us an easier second half so hopefully hasn't knackered us for Liverpool. Shame we didn't score more though, we could've taken the Nextgen team to San Siro instead
Great performance from the team. Sig, Parker and dembele in particular, IMO. They are one of, if not the worst team we've played this season. Utterly useless. If they were in the premier league, they'd be relegation fodder.
Absolutely YV and it looks like no injuries as well (hopefully Lennon coming off was just being on the safe side). With all these matches not a lot of training will be needed and I bet they are liking forward to the next match. Not a bad 11 days beating the spammers, goons and inter Milan.
