Certainly not the best player in the PL but as lefts backs go...he'd defo be in my "all -star team" Dont see too many better than him TBH
I agree, although he is often played out of position. I think he may kick on again if he leaves Utd for a fresh challenge.
I expressed this view to a Gooner colleague of mine today and he looked at me as though I was a complete and utter Charlie (making him a good judge of character, if anything). "Oh, but if you watch him closely", he said, suggesting that I hadn't been,"then you'd marvel at his movement off the ball etc. etc. yawn, yawn. My colleague is another one of those that argues against what I hadn't said, rather than listening to the actual words. Strangely, he then got annoyed when I suggested Rooney wasn't as good as Robin van Persie. Odd that. I agree: perhaps Rooney needs a fresh challenge.
Sad that he has to resort to that, I wanted spurs to go through but I think I'd have a right laugh if inter hammered them in the second leg because he didn't play.
At LR last season, Rooney's movement, touch, passing and work rate were all phenomenal. I think he's top, top class when on form, but he is a player who doesn't seem to have "ordinary" games. He's either very good or bad. He also seems to need a good few games to get back to form after a lay off. Best if he plays and plays imo. As far as RVP is concerned, I don't think you can compare them, as they're different types of player.
It's the one blot on his copy book. He is absolutely on fire at the moment. Come on Spurs, make it 4.
one of their players did exactly the same thing as well, the ref got 2 dives out of 2. Not often that happens.
If our Harold managed to turn a young pacy left back into this all-star world beater, do you think he could do the same to Traore? ( Please. )
That's what the commentator said but I think he was being far too lenient. He's a cheat, pure and simple. No difference between him and Ashley Young. I'm glad he misses the next game because of that.
He's not alone though. This trick of the attacker leaving his leg trailing to catch the defender and then "cause" a foul is far too prevalent.
AVB has said that they were going to ask him to get a yellow anyway once they were 3 up, to get his suspension out of the way before the next round. Leaves a nasty taste in the mouth.
