Which celebs know their stuff when it comes to f1 and which ones don't?

You see a fair few celebrities getting interviews and walking up and down the pit lane before the start of the race and obviously some get interviewed.

Does my tits in when I see some pop star I've never heard of, when asked who they want to win they respond with something like "England"

So which ones actually like the sport and which ones are just day trippers?

I'm curious as to why Matt Le Blanc is so into Lotus. Doesn't have a particularly standout history with motor racing, and yet at Austin last year he was everywhere.

Rowan Atkinson is keen on motor racing. People like Nicole Schzerzinger/rihanna (don't care if that is written wrong) piss me off.

There are a fair few film directors who know their stuff about F1 and go to Monaco almost every year, Antonio Banderas is a big Alonso fan if I remember correctly. Matt LeBlanc is a massive motor nut (considering all the cars he has), so he knows what he is on about. Steven Gerrard I know has no idea about F1 when he went to Silverstone in 2011 since he seems to believe McLaren was the only "English" team on the grid.

Other than that I don't actually see the celebrities since I rarely watch music videos or celebrity shows or follow any other sports accept F1 and so I have no idea who they are. Never heard of Nicole until Lewis started going out with her...

I remember seeing Rowan Atkinson watching a race from the Mclaren paddock at the Indian GP and he seemed to be Lewis fan as i remember him going into one when Lewis crashed. The comments regards Lewis's girlfriend is unwarranted as she is his girlfriend and will naturally support her man. And many times i have seen her engrossed in the races ,Monaco 2011 and Canada 2012 comes to mind.

It seems to some people if you are of a ethnic type and is popular and visiting a F1 track you are not a real fan.

It's shame when 99% of the comments on here are great and insightful and then you get one like that

Ah yes, George Lucas was at Austin last season wasn't he?

Also I think I remember Freddie Flintoff saying he thought it was incredibly boring, or something along those lines.

Apparently Murray Walker is a massive F1 fan. I'd have never put the two together.

The ethnic bit was totally gratuitous but, anyway, although I laughed at her cluelessness when she first started going to races, I think Nicole has genuinely got more into it now.

Michael Fassbender seems to be there a lot, I've noticed, but I'm not sure if he there for the racing or the craic.

I think he's a genuine fan saw him at a lot of the races supporting Schumacher/Mercedes and he talked about it on Top Gear as well.

In Oz we actually have a support race around Albert Park with roughly 30 or so celebs driving Lexus IS200s. Not massive Hollywood celebs, but celebs nonetheless.

I'm sure he's been quoted as saying he prefers NASCAR, but then that could just be him being controversial for the sake of it. He seems to know enough, and be genuinely interested, when F1 drivers have been on Top Gear, and as far as I can remember, they've never interviewed a driver from outside F1.

Yeah he was there. I'm pretty sure Hammond went to NASCAR to prove it was good in one episode, but Clarkson and May just laughed at him, saying Formula One is better.
