If Villa win tonight, and they can, this is football, then I'll start to worry. If they lose, then this weekends fixtures won't actually have harmed us because none of the teams below us will have closed the gap.
Agree Archers. It's a shame that we couldn't stretch away but our fate is completely in our hands. 4 wins from our last 10 and we stay up!
Sod's law says Villa will win, but fingers crossed as we have been lucky this weekend considering we lost. We have lost or failed to snatch enough points recently, so need to get some points soon as next weekend things may go against us.
Don't get your hopes up too much.We are a bit of a home team.Only lost to C£ty,Liverpool and Chelsea in the league this season.
Hey CT , don't think anyone is underestimating your team at all ! IF we win next saturday it will be important for our confidence , not sure anyone is saying we WILL .......
At seven points plus goal differential behind us, there aren't many scenarios where you survive the drop and we finish 18th...if you beat the line and we don't, it's rather likely that we'll have collapsed to enough of an extent to be passed by the majority of the relegation candidates.
We are annoyed not to have pulled away, but imagine how annoyed Villa, Wigan and reading are that they couldn't take advantage of our slip up.
Saturday is massive with QPR home to Sunderland and the Reading six pointer against Villa. Let's hope we can widen that gap!
Just seen this - I've not factchecked so can't completely vouch for its reliability but if it's correct then... well... please log in to view this image
Assuming this is true, it supports the need for financial controls. How wrong would it be if they stayed up at the cost of another team who was more financially constrained. Teams will always take some risks to stay in PL (after all we probably are), but hopefully not at this level.
Have to imagine that, by the end of this year, their debt will be in the range of 120-140m, given their outlays. Even with the wealth of their ownership (Tony Fernandes has a net worth around 300m, the Mittals are in the 10 billion range), that's a huge pile of debt with which to contend.
