(I put this on the PL board but nobody responded) Does anyone know how this works? It's very tight and a lot of people are going to be very nervous as the final games are played out. It could hardly be tighter at the bottom with Birmingham, Blackpool and Wigan on equal points, and with goal difference almost equal too. Goals scored could come into the reckoning but even then the GS columns for Wigan and Birmingham are almost identical. Assuming that I'm correct on GD making the difference in the event that points are level, the next stat used is "Goals for". If that is level does it go to "Goals Against." If everything is totally equal what happens then? I realised after posting that it's largely a theoretical question as the GD columns can't be levelled without a difference in points at the weekend. If not then how does it work? Cheers
http://premierleague.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/54/~/when-teams-finish-on-equal-points "If two or more teams are equal on points, then the winner is determined by goal difference, then if necessary by the number of goals scored. Where teams are equal on points, the number of goals scored and goal difference then there will be a play off to determine the winner. The Premier League does not look at the head-to-head record."
Cheers Lads I don't think it could happen this time around but there's so little between the teams this year it suggests that it may happen before too long. What a game a play off would be!
