A round of applause to the bhoys on a fantastic European season. Although getting to a European final was special this was the best I have experienced.

"The fantastic Celtic fans gave a real lesson in civility in sport. The chants and insults which blight too many games in Serie A are light years away from the spectacle of education and sportsmanship that the people in the Celtic away end offered.

"They are a worthy rival for Juventus. That horizontally striped white and green jersey is the uniform of a club worthy of the applause of the world."

Italian press pay tribute to the great fans of Celtic

Posted by SPORT WITNESS on March 7, 2013 at 10:20 in Sport Witness FootballView Discussions

Celtic supporters didn't get what they wanted last night A victory against Juventus would have been something to take away from the match in Turin but they didn't manage to get a goal, largely thanks to the super-human heroics of Gigi Buffon who produced an absolutely magnificent save.

What Celtic fans can take away from the game is praise, the Italian media have been very impressed with the club's support and it's not something they often say about visiting teams. Calciomercato called them the 'great sports fans of Celtic' and went on to say that the club is one with support all over the world, a worthy opponent and that the fans are deserving of the applause of the world.

    High praise indeed!

Turin newspaper Tuttosport say that the atmosphere around the game was excellent, largely due to the travelling Celtic support and they are shocked that even in the stadium the two sets of fans struck up a friendship and huge respect and show a photograph of a Celtic fan and a Juventus counterpart joking with the high fences segregation fences separating them.

Celtic fans are clearly welcome back in Turin as soon as possible and it's a reputation they are building throughout Europe the fans have always been hugely admired but in recent years there seems to be a huge friendship aspect to it with relations being made between fan groups which will last a long time.

A good news story about football supporters, we could do with more of those so well done Celtic!
