Rough but a proper end. No boxes. Mods can't post it original size for .. So if you can? please log in to view this image
There is a good idea in there. Re-size to fit footprint. Paint sides with murals, one as per Eastend, divide stand into two reserved and unreserved sections. Mural and reserved and unreserved sections define the type of fan they will attract. Unreserved section = current Eastend. Reserved section = Atyeo type support. No boxes. Keep the advertising down invite fans to add their colours with flags. All adds up to updating the clubs past and culture. And that would be its USP.
Yes ... That end design has the right stuff. A stand with righteous balls. A million miles from that guff in wales tuther week ... Still cringing now, terrible place.
Cut down advertising, no boxes, where do you think income is going to come from? or do you plan on planting money trees in the cloud cookoo land that some people seem to inhabit. or do you think the players are all going to play for no wages? give me strength
A billboard is £300 a season. Not so much in the scheme of things. **** all. Do it right and revenue can be raised by alternative means, bar sales within the stand, merchandise, but get people in first. USP = Unique selling point. The selling point is fans, colour, vibe. Works abroad. The area will be less than 20% of capacity. Lots of clubs have seen fit not to situate boxes behind stands. Indeed a corporate demenour may not always be of benefit. Anfield which that design obviously apes have avoided such behind that goal. City could just stick boxes everywhere. Hardly visionary, or bold. Plenty of dead grounds in the UK now. Thats what we are infamous for now abroad. BCFC don't have to follow suit.
Yes it looks good BUT; Why fill in the corners and lose that capacity? The rake of the stand - the steepness of the incline from bottom to top - will probably be steeper than this picture if the roof is anywhere near the Dolman height. But does extra height mean less noise? No, just go to Anfield, the Holte End at Villa or the South Bank (I don't know it's present name) at Molineux and listen when they are in full voice. I think some people believe that a low roof is a guarantee of good acoustics, but that simply is not true. But one thing I do agree with is no boxes in the Rebuilt Wedlock. People in suits who are only there on a hospitality jolly, do not want "screaming lunatics" jumping up and down in front of them at every corner or goalmouth incident. If the club want more boxes than will fit in the Williams, then put them at the bottom of the Dolman where the old stand finishes - where the extra seating was put in some years ago. "screaming lunatics" = genuine wholehearted City fans creating the atmosphere that we all want from that end of the ground. But some of the suits may see them as "screaming lunatics"!
It is just an idea posted elsewhere. Thought it was interesting. Does extra height mean less noise?? Depends if it is cavernous or not. The kop and the south bank at the rear the roofs are low. back of the kop feels very enclosed and quite dark. Why fill in the corners and lose that capacity? every survey of city fans for AV has shown they want a enclosed design. Fans want an end. That is one. a proper statement end. The re-development will have a pub in it. One corner could be that pub. Doubt it will look like that as the design quoted to be less than 5000 by this fans parliament. That is a lot bigger seats wise. Also i don't think there would be enough to build that as raynes road houses are so close. No expert mind.
The actual houses are not as close as those behind the Atyeo. They have typical 1930's long back gardens. The Dolman roof is only the depth of the Wedlock (from back to front) further away from the houses so it may be possible to get the same height roof on the Wedlock. I appreciate that to the residents and the planners, the height/view of one end of the Dolman will be different to the height.view of the whole length of the rebuilt Wedlock. I'm no expert on planning etc but just trying to use the simple logic that even if the Wedlock is rebuilt at same height as Dolman, would that necessarily interfere with the "light requirement" for those houses at the end of Raynes Road. The Club may be able to argue that as the Dolman has been there for more than forty years, that sets a precedent and may be continued? PS; 3 Lions; good post as I think we have to keep on putting ideas forward before any final decision is made by the club. And a bit of "lateral thinking" or "outside of the box" ideas are in my opinion welcome. At least when the decision is made by the club even if one is not madly in love with the design, we'll all feel that we've been heard.
The actual houses are not as close as those behind the Atyeo. Very little difference in it and maybe from the south east corner of the EE one of raynes roads houses is closer. Put it this way they are not far away, but also there is a lack of space at the back of the EE, not just light. cant answer the question maybe our mate Bristol boy!!l
I agree with you after looking at Google map. I just wonder why the Artists impression issued on 5th Feb shows Wedlock at same height as Dolman when it probably will not be!
We need to make more money, if that means coporate boxes go in the new EE, they go in the new EE. You never know, while it's being rebuilt the East end lot might all get together in another stand and that'll become the main singing block. Seeing as the away fans will be in the Atyeo i'd have thought a few will be heading towards Dolman A etc while it's being built.
Unfortunately the fans will be consulted over the stadium but that will be all it is consulted. If you put 100 people in the room and say what is it you want, you will get 3 wants that will not be practical. Some don't want boxes in the EE, some don't mind. Etc etc
I have a friend who lives in the flats and you can see how close the ground is. a bit of detail on outlines for fans would have been interesting. There are more meetings next month. one for local residents.
Dolman A hardly has much room now and it has not since 2000. my old season ticket was there. still do the odd game there. It is part of the reason fans did the petition in 2006 asking to reopen the Eastend. No room and god view but atmosphere was not very good and was not going to be again. If it is all about money just turn it into a box. Or we can have a bit of pride and not be second rate as fans and as a club off the pitch. Singing block!! aim low mate and it might be singing row which was how low things had got at times mid 2000's. Aim high build a proper end to have a bit of pride in.
BUT for those of us who started these "journeys" of support scuffing our samba trainers and DM's on the Eastend and can remember the noise, smell and the sight of hundreds of growlers being sparked up in the darkness, well there can be more. There be other opportunituies to MAXIMISE in business **** speak. Heritage and tradition. Little Johnnny can like I did hand in hand with Uncle approach Winterstoke car park hearing the sound of a chanting crowd for the XI in red thinking "I'm home". All about priorities. Blue sky thinking for frontline service users wanted there. Chief I think your vision will win out. The bean counters will follow the machine though for Plan B.
I agree with you about how fans will be consulted. That Bristol Boy slagged supports trust surveys off, but they did highlight elements fans thought were important. If you put 100 people in a room, who you expect would use something you are possibly building for them, and a lot say they do not like your ideas?
Absolutely correct. Consultation means we have a chance of putting our views over. It does not mean that all those consulted will agree or want the same perameters. And whatever gets built, will be a compromise based on Wants, Wishes, Practicalities, Planners, Legislation, Financial etc. So some us will get some of what we would like, others will get more and others less. It's called democracy and a realisation that no-one, including SL and the Board, will get everything they want. As long as it takes us forward as a Club, that is all that matters.
Looks good to me with what I saw in the images. Shame we don't have more options at the Atyeo end because with a better stand down that end it would give us a nice tidy stadium and possibly create more noise to make it our fortress.
I disagree. The Williams will not be a compromise. Forty million is not possibly being spent on adding 6-7000 to capacity. The Williams design will be what fans expect and probably over all think little over. You are not defining what the club is. If the club is its fans, no compromise. Fans have diffrent ideas on what matters. Cardiff are top, I wouldn't stomach that. Foward [progress] is also a perception. What fans see away from home is perceived as progress. Flat stadium after flat stadium. Seen the souless grounds don't want for BCFC. That is not forward. Progress can mean embracing the good bits of the past, not damaging it beyond all repair e.g Cardiff. Fans have put forwards visions for one part of a ground for sometime. Using somebody elses words, alternatively, we could have a few people sat behind windows eating meals with rows of fans in front of them making little or no noise.
