Some interesting quotes in here: James Pearce on the Echo webchat says Stefan De Vrij has been watched by #LFC and certainly being considered for summer Pearce says Skrtel didn't do himself any favours with his comments and the fact he didn't make the bench at Wigan spoke volumes. Pearce: "If Skrtel doesn't show the right attitude he could be sold in summer." Pearce on summer transfers: "Centre-backs are going to be a priority. He needs to replace Carra, and possibly Skrtel and Coates as well." Pearce: "He also needs cover at left-back and another attacking option. The sale of Andy Carroll should generate some cash for his kitty." Pearse says he hasn't heard anything concerete on BR's interest in Ben Arfa James says there won't be a massive spending spree in summer, can't see Henderson and Shelvey being sold but a loan for the latter. James Pearce says there is absolutely no reason to believe Suarez will leave in summer BUT..... Pearce: "But there has to be a nagging doubt about whether his head maybe turned by a huge offer this summer." Pearce: "A big thing is convincing LS that he can realise his ambitions here, that LFC will kick on next season and get back in the CL." Pearce: "That's why the last 10 games of this season are so important." Also mentions that Sturridge should be ready to rumble for Sunday.
slightly depressing if we have a summer rebuilding the defence. It was perfect a year ago and to have to rebuild that again is really annoying, especially when our attack is far from complete
I personally feel that even with the good defense last year it was very unbalanced and when someone went down, too much needed to be shifted and I think this year shows it even more. Would take a CB,LB,ST,Winger/AM/SS
I have to say I agree with this outlook. Sometimes in any walk of life your face doesn't fit and Skrtl may be in that category... Agree re Suarez - if we play well in our remaining games and show signs of progression he may decide to stay for another season. Although Suarez has said all the right things regarding Liverpool recently it is all wiped away with a statement to the effect of "you cant say no when a club like Barcelona come calling" - we will see. Re rebuilding the defence, hopefully we can make some changes early doors and get a good pre season under our belts. Exciting times - a good performance and win against the spuds would be a god send right now for all sorts of reasons. COME ONNNNNN!
Skrtel, Carroll should fetch close to £25M, with a bit more money from the Owners, a transfer kitty of £35M would could buy in some real *quality for the positions in question. ( * based on £20 purchases of Sturrdige and Ford)
This is who I think we will offload and how much we will get Carroll £11m Downing £5m Coates £7m Skrtel £8m Spearing £2m Assaidi £5m Maybe Borini £8m That gives us , that gives us £38m if we dont sell Borini and £46m if we do, + our transfer budget to buy 3 Defenders ( 2CBs and a LB or 3CBs), a DM , a striker, a TOP,TOP winger Theres also the free transfer market, we have been linked with Alex Pearce,Diakate and Honda from that already
Seriously? You actually think that? I think if we get 5-10£m for him that will be a good deal. West Ham apparently don't want him at their £17m option price and why would they? 3 goals in 15 games and that's at a team completely suited to his ability. Time we forget what we paid for him and concentrate on what he is actually worth in today's market (one where Lambert is around £6m)
if Stoke want him we could convince them to pay about £10 mill lol even then i think we are taking the piss, but have to get something for the useless fecka
That was based on the assumption that the deal with West Ham goes ahead (£17M is the figure that was quoted), hadn't heard that West Ham were no longer looking to exercise that option, don't blame them. Got to that total with the assumption that we'd get at least £8 for Skrtel from the likes of Zenit, Anzi... If there wasn't a deal agreed with West Ham, then, correct, I'd be very surprised if we get £12M for Carroll.
ah Ok. Yea rumour mill this morning said West Ham weren't interested. Even if it's bollox, any educated guess would say that West Ham probably won't want to exercise their option any longer
Says all you need about the Carroll buy, West Ham- who play a game tailor made for Carroll, don't look interested in keeping him.
personally speaking i don't think West Ham had any intention of buying him anyway, even if he was doing well for them,i thought £17 mill was a high price at the time, now they have had time to see they probably agree and are probably glad its not legally binding, we would have ended up taking him back sadly, the only problem for us now is he has been poor and value has shot well down.
I think the best bet for us is working with Newcastle for a $ + Carroll deal. Again, if the HBA rumors are true.
haven't seen enough of this HBA to judge, but it would be ****ing typical of how crap we are/have been in the transfer market, that if after paying £35 mill for a player we end up giving him back to the club we sold him to with money on top!!!! to get a player off them, and an injury prone one at that ffs
