Agree, Pardew obviously has no time for Ranger's bad attitude so I'm sure he'd judge this one right.

I would love to see this team play, maybe change Ba for Sturridge though.

I don't really know why people hate him. Never did. Never will. His beef was always with Kinnear and I thought everything he said about the club was spot on and I thought he was quite respectful to the club in the way he left.

He thanked and apologised to the fans on the way it ended, but said he simply couldn't take any more, which is fine in my books. He came out like a man and didn't pussy foot around. He thought it was getting worse every year (which it was) and that it was unbearable. Add to the fact that he wasn't really seen as an iconic figure (like Carroll) and was often put at LB. Also that he got called 'insomnia' etc. I don't blame him for leaving and would love him back

Much rather have Ba than Berbatov or Sturridge though. Berbatov would be a terrible signing, real waste of money. Sturridge would probably offer more than Ba in the long term, but Ba is still pretty young and Chelsea won't sell Sturridge.

People need to come to terms with the fact that Nolan will be in the first team next season. Every player including Pardew rates him highly. All of these formation porns without him are pointless.

In which case so is the whole discussion about N'zogbia. Out of those midfield five who would Nolan replace? If Nolan plays, Barton will be back on the right, so therefore there's no point discussing any new midfield signings.

Pardew wants to play HBA in the no.10 role, so it would be like this?...

    Tiote--Nolan
    Barton----Ben Arfa----Gutierrez
    Ba

Wouldn't work for me, too similar to this season.

Well it can be discussed in the event that Nolan is injured or Pardew cycles players around. But I really believe that for the strongest starting 11, Nolan will be there and will take priority over any new midfield signings which are also in a CM position. That really seems like Pards plan.

I just wouldn't want people getting their hopes up saying they can't wait for summer with formations like those, because Nolan is gonna be there, as much as it pains me to say it. I love the guy and I think we need him, but at the same time I'd be very excited to see some new quality in there. We're probably going to stretch the current midfield out to 5 to accommodate Ben Arfa, then that'll only change when someone gets injured or someone needs a rest.

PS: Can anyone here actually see Pardew dropping our captain?

That's probably what it's going to be. The only difference is that we can bring on substitutions and cycle players who are of near or similar quality to our starting 11. That'll help a great deal I'd imagine.

I can see it being something like that. But the advantage we will have with this formation is that players will be able to rotate.

    Tiote Nolan
    Barton Ben Arfa Gutierrez

    Tiote Barton
    Ben Arfa Nolan Gutierrez

    Tiote Barton
    Gutierrez Nolan Ben Arfa

They could all rotate at times during the match. Ben Arfa & Gutierrez rotating and playing in a more free role would cause havoc for defenders. Allowing Nolan & whoever our striker may be (Berbatov <whistle>) get into space and score from Bartons passes. <diva>!

Mind you, I've heard that we're in the running for signing Gervinho still, but I'm not sure where he would go, unless Pards wants him as our star striker.

If he does want him as a winger, then perhaps Pards is more open to rotating the squad quite a bit next season.

Charles N'zogbia seems to of improved as a player and a man so as long as we don't pay through the nose, I'd be glad to have him back seeing as though we can get Joey Barton back in central.

He didn't actually appoint him though. I don't think a player should be in the starting line up just because they're captain, how long did we carry Butt for?

I don't think so either, but that seems to be where it's heading. Pardew and the team love Nolan for his goals and leadership and seem to think he's incredibly important, so I don't think he's going anywhere unless another player comes along and really blows Nolan out of the water. Then Pards may be forced to concede.

    I know Pardew has said he sees HBA as playing in the no.10 role but things might change over the summer, I could see something like;

    Sammy Ameobi
    Jonas ------------- HBA
    Nolan - Barton
    Tiote

(In a 4-3-3, doesn;t really show well there)
