I prefer Glenn's teachings - if he's right, I'll be reborn as a raspberry. If you're right, I'll spend eternity in hell being subjected to unimaginable suffering. Probably get bummed too.
He had an appalling record........
Not quite. Football academy in Spain I think. EDIT: I understand the word football is almost entirely superfluous. I think it is a second chance for nearly men.
Glen got sacked for the most ridiculous reason: that he publicly stated his belief in karma and that disableds are affected by karma from a previous lifetime. He was singled out. All religions push dubious claims some of which are offensive to certain groups. Ban one then ban all.
He handled a couple of situations very badly and I think he lost the support of the players as a result. Ray Parlour asked Eileen Drewry for a short back and sides and got punished for not taking it seriously and I think Teddy Sheringham got singled out to apologise for some carry on. It was poorly handled by Hoddle. He was representing the FA. If he is unable to conduct himself professionally, then he is unsuitable for that job. Ruth Kelly was a pretty decent Education Minister. She is in Opus Dei and people thought her Faith would make it impossible for her to act professionally. I think she was able and it didn't interfere with her decision making..... I guess the same is true for Hoddle as he picked a shower of *****s.
Oh don't you start. I'm not always consistent and my opinions about certain things have morphed even since we started conversing a while back - but this particular point has been consistent in my head for a long time. I'm not sure if I wrote this anywhere before, but depending where I am based at the time I'm probably going to pay for private secondary education and I'll cover the University fees (send 'em to Scotland) - then I'm done financially, I'll have tried my best to educate them and then it's their responsibility to become their own men and stand on their own two feet.
I struggle to see how anyone can argue with a parents right to give their children a leg up in life, in fact, surely it's akin to abuse if a parent doesn't?
Wouldn't that depend on what life lessons you wished to impart. For example, Peter Jones has a bunch of kids. I am sure they all live well but his idea is that if they take up a "worthy" profession (whatever he considers that to be) and they get there on their own, he will then double their wage,
I'm sure that their is an almost infinite amount of different ways that you could chose to bring up your kids. Peter Jones' way is just one of them. I don't see a problem with it to be honest.
