If we got points for effort we would have won that but even though we played very well we didnt create enough chances and didnt put their keeper under pressure. The only thing I can really critise is the team selection as for most of the game it felt more like a 4-6-0 as if you are going to play one up front then that player needs to play as a centre forward, not a winger and not dropping deep. No point having Steads height when he is the player putting the crosses in to an empty box. Think this is why we needed Davies or Baldock to play up front with him so when Stead drops deep it doesnt matter. Drawing tonight with Wolves winning, beating Middlesbrough is must win as we cant rely on our away form. Great effort but it isnt going to save us unless we can put the ball in teh back of the net. and does anyone think Albert still wants to be at the club?
Every game is a must win IMO we're bottom of the table, No good going into the game thinking, Meh we haven't got to win. I agree with you about the team selection, Baldock and Davies need to be upfront with stead. As much as I love big Jon but when you put him upfront on his own you're taking away your chance to score goals. Subs were put on way to late also. 4 points from this week will be VERY VERY good. Brighton are a top team and we made them look like they were bottom tonight. Carry on as we are then we might escape MIGHT
Anderson over Albert all day long for me. Albert is great at going past players makes them look silly then makes himself look silly. Sorry Albert but you just don't look interested in the game nor did you last season when we had to fight.
WHAT...??!!! - I love Albert to pieces but I am the first to say that he needs to learn composure and discipline and currently, I concur about Anderson however whilst I don't normally disagree with you ROD, that is a ludicrous statement... a). he was only on for 10 minutes max b). it was pretty obvious that like the rest of the team, he was playing to a clear instruction, something along the lines of "go down the wing, get to the byline or close, no fancy stuff and, cross the ball" which he did about 3 or 4 times in 10 minutes which is probably more than his last 3 or 4 games put together, i.e. he supplied END PRODUCT Ok, could have been better but at least he crossed it so we had a chance to get on the end of it and score. Like the rest of the team, Albert will improve under SOD...
Nope to me tonight he looked lost, I'm sorry but that's the way I see it. I was comparing him to Anderson and I would take Anderson over Albert.
End product missing he needs to work on crossing but I didn't like skuse having a go at his own poor pass
Adomah didn't do enough or have enough time to be criticised. You're comparing a player who played 90 minutes to a player who played 7, Bit silly.
Albert is one of those "luxury" type players......best in a side playing with flair and confidence, of which we don't have a huge amount to spare at the moment. We need a harder version of him if thats possible. Got to admit, with fear of upsetting most on here, I am not in the Albert love-in club and never have been. Yes he shows moments of pure genius and pace to spare, but for long times he is no more than an average winger being carried for far too long in a game.....just my opinion though And yes, very much a must win!
Albert's end product and decision making are the reasons a Premiership club have not come in for him. Before the game last night, the concensus of people around me was that 4 points out of 6 would be a good return, and that Brighton was the tougher game. it was a good - disciplined/well-organised performance by our boys last night - they seem to be able to execute SoD's tactics more easily than Del Boys
every game is a N O L O S E .................. we are currently on 46 points and the bottom of the league..................
No, afraid not jgf2 - that's what you'd like to be on. Giving yourself 10 too many there pal - but 3 on Saturday will certainly help you get a bit closer.
OS... if you have 10 games to play you have 10 pts as the the moment of the first kick of the ball each team have one each...ever since its concept football teams managing to outscore their opponents take all the points, in recent years its 3 so should we lose today we are only on 45pts should we win we are on 48points Nice to see you on 82 points
