    Jenkins today gave a strong hint that Laudrup could leave at the end of the season if Real Madrid are serious in taking him, Jenkins says he already has his replacement in mind,...To me that is a clear indication yet that laudrup has made his intentions known to the Board....How this will effect current players decisions and possible attractions i dont know...we will have to get on with it i suppose..

    Dai where is the article from Today - all I've seen is recycled crap - like the one where ML was asked if he thought the new assistant would make a manager.

    Laudrup can join Madrid any time. They go through managers like most people go through socks. Same with Chelsea (who have been linked to him). I think he will stay for a year or two yet.

    In terms of players I would add 2 strikers (Aspas plus cover preferably). We already have Canas coming so that's midfield sorted. Another versatile defender would be great too. Don't think there's too much I'd change other than getting rid of the dead wood;
    Moore
    Lita
    Gower
    Tate
    Itay
    possibly get rid of;
    Augustien
    Monk
    Teindalli
    if we can replace with better.

    Definitely out Tate, Gower, Monk, Shekter and Lita

    We need a good, wont be cheap and are scarce as rocking horse droppings, a proven striker and a midfield player who can boss a game when we play the Newcastles of this world. Plus another CB and a back up striker.

    Also assume De Guzman joins us permanently

    Can we afford it - another question

    Would they come to Swansea - I'd like to think so

    trust me Jenkins have said it as quoted in the EP.....Monk is going nowhere soon as a Swansea player..It never cease to amaze me when fans disbelieve things they don't want to hear <doh>

    Think next season will see Monk transitioning into a type of player coach. Swansea through and through and his experience will be invaluable behind the scenes.

    Morten Wieghorst is capable of being the next manager of Swansea, according to current boss Michael Laudrup.

    Laudrup has been linked with some of the biggest clubs in Europe after leading the Welsh giants to Capital One Cup glory in his first season in England.

    Swanasea chairman Huw Jenkins admits the search has already begun for the Dane's replacement, but the man himself believes former Celtic star Wieghorst - his current No.2 - has the skills for the job.

    Five years ago Laudrup missed out on the job at Panathinaikos because the club would not allow him the option to leave should an offer from a La Liga club come in and although there is nothing to suggest that a similar clause has been inserted into his contract at Swansea, an understanding with Jenkins could be in place to allow Laudrup to return to Spain.

    Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins has admitted that the south Wales club are constantly in the process of identifying potential new managers as speculation mounts regarding the future of current boss Michael Laudrup.

    so all im saying is that discussions have almost certainly taken place and jenkins has been forced to target his replacement, I believe that replacement could well be Morten if real madrid makes an offer and if they dont then maybe he will not go till next season is over....

    Hopefully he won't go out on loan. I know some have criticised his performances of late but I think he has been decent considering the actual game time he has had this year.

    Morten Wieghorst may have the ability to take us on after Michael Laudrup then again he might not. If ML decides to move on, we should not be regarded merely as a vehicle to provide a job for his mate. Fine, if Morten demonstrates the necessary ability prior to ML leaving then offer him the job - but I hope that Huw will be monitoring his performance very closely next season so he can make that decision. He just might not stack up.

    I suppose what I am saying is that, just because ML says he would be suitable, doesn't necessarily make it the case that he would be the best choice for us. Let's not forget that Swansea City is now an attractive proposition for a number of top managers and, should one of them throw his hat in the ring post Michael Laudrup, it might be better to go with him if he has the obvious credentials.

    I am all for continuity and it would be ideal if Morten could seamlessly take the reins when ML moves on. BUT, in my book it very much depends on his performance until that time. We should keep our options open here and I'm sure that Huw and the Board will do that.

    agree ivor we must keep our options open but it wont do much harm right now if morton learns from the master himself and if he thinks he could do the job then i think we should listen to him. If the worst cones to the worst then we should give him the chance but only on a 1 year rolling contract like we did Brendan and if he is crap then it wont cost us too much to sack....If i was Jenkins i would still look elsewhere and see who is interested....I hope laudrup will stay for another year but you only have to read between the lines to know that Jenkins knows that if Madrid wants him then he has to let him go and that's fair enough.....One good thing is that we should have no trouble in attracting good managers as they will see our last 3 managers have moved on to bigger things...

    If Morten has the ability to do the job then this is the ideal scenario in terms of succession planning - but its a big if. As Ivor says we are now a very attractive proposition for managers and come the time Huw will be in the driving seat.

    With regard to Monk then I think, if we make the required CB signing, that he wil have very limited playimg opportunities but believe he will take up some form of behind the scenes coaching role.

    Couldn't agree more. There will be a few people vying for the job when ML eventually leaves. However, IF Weighorst does have the ability to be a top manager then this is the perfect scenario to have him come work under ML and learn the team ethos, strengths and weaknesses etc ready to replace ML. Either way, we will have no shortage of interest in the manager's job if and when that time comes.

    I have not long ago spoken to monk and he knows full well he is a back up player and i don't think he minds really. He knows he is behind younger players but when called upon he will be ready, He is still the club captain and even when he hands over to ash as player captain he has a big impact in the dressing room, He is a top guy and we are lucky to have him.... The only problem i can see is if we get a manager in the future that will have his own staff and there will be no room for monk or god forbid curtis...

    Well, this isn't news is it? First of, Huw always has a replacement in mind. That's why we always replace a good manager with another good manager. We have a board that is well prepared and don't panic. Secondly, we all know that if a club like Real Madrid comes asking, then you listen. Laudrup has probably made his intentions known to the board a long time ago. He was close to signing a contract with Greek side Panathinaikos before he came to Swansea, but it failed as he wanted a clause saying that he was free to leave should a Spanish club come asking. There is no reason to believe that it's otherwise here... Thirdly, this is all speculation. Real Madrid still has a manager. Yeah, he might get fired, but he's still there. ML is not exactly a experienced manager and should probably be seen as a outsider IF the job becomes available...
