I do often put bets on and so far this year I am up around £400, but like most people that bet a lot I never put it on the team I support. No I can tell the future so it's kinda easy to say bookies can't be always right.
We'll see if the bookies are accurate after the 3 games. It's going to be difficult and I personally see us getting 1 point. RELEGATION there I said it.
We had an off-day in the final third. Pochettino is not "under pressure" right now. Saints are 16th. Not 18th-20th. If we slip in there with a few to go, then of course he probably is going to be. I still have faith in him. Regardless of the league, he knows relegation battles. You could say all managers are under some degree pressure 24/7.
No, he's just making a point. The way you are talking is as if we might as well apply to the Football League already for a Championship spot. Ask the PL to relegate us so we can crack on with pre-season already..... dear me.
Err.... Umm it is already isn't it............Didn't you hear.....Saints lost Saturday. The world is doomed......doomed I tell you......doomed!!!!
Then think about it this way - 3 teams of the 4 below Saints have to do pretty much as we do or worse for the rest of the season. Don't you consider that possible, given we already have a 3 point head start over them..? I don't want this uncertainty next season.
i dont think we'll go down but if we do then the MP appointment will have proved to be a spectacular failure.
If we're going with the bookies being always right then we are staying up. They aren't always right though, because that's not how life works. Is Poch under pressure? Only as much as every other Premier League manager, but I suppose that's what jonny meant. I'm not too worried, Liverpool and Chelsea are good teams but we gave them both a good game at their place, certainly not a write off. Three wins needed and we'll get one in March to set us on the way
If you mean in general then yeh fine fair point. But this post can't really be overeacting as its basically just simple facts.
We need to hear what Lawro predicts as he finally has got it right after eleven attempts. If he says we will loose the next one I will be very afraid as he's on a roll
We must also remember that Mauricio is struggling with the language. I know they say that he speaks enough to talk football, but it must be a mental strain to deal with it on a day to day basis. You have complicated thoughts and ideas and have to use your limited vocabulary or wait for the interpretor (who may not put the emphasis in that MP wanted). So mauricio hasthat to deal with as well as the pressure of being in the PL.
Good point makes the timing of it all rather odd. If we had already decided on Poch why didn't we say learn english asap and take over in summer, hes really been thrown into the deep end and has replaced a manager who looked like he had got the situation under controll. Perhaps Poch wasn't prepared to wait that long?
I don't think it's negative to point out the Poche is under pressure. And it is nowhere near as fickle as the comments about how much better Poche is than Adkins, how right Cortese was after all etc, after the Man City game. Things can change very quickly - 5 mins in against Newcastle and life under Poche was looking pretty rosy! But leaving knee jerk reactions aside, I'm concerned about the risks asociated with Poche's tactics in this league. You can't just put the QPR game down as a bad day at the office. We got brutally exposed on the counter, and it's due to the tactics we're playing. What worries me is that a lot of the chances Newcastle created were similar. Is Poche udner pressure? Definetely, and he knows it. He needs to work out how to stop teams with pace up front undoing his playing style and he needs to do it fast. I read recently that he was known for his tactical inflexiblity in Spain which is worrying. We are lucky that the teams below have have kept on losing but this isn't going to happen forever.
Fair points but he has experience of relegation pressure and that should help. If we don't get anything fromn the next couple of games then we can panic!
Agree with this comment. I listened to Harry after the game - he said in his interview knew how we would play. He said that thought we would play a high line and pressure his players in possession and he told his players to look for the early ball out of defence down the wings - he also made the point that he set his team up with two wingers. That is how every team will set up against us that does not have the quality to play good possession football. Like Adkins at the start of the season - he needs to know how to adapt his preferred style. By the time Adkins had worked that out Cortesse had already decided to ditch him (November 2012) which was a shame for him. I am prepared to give Poch the benefit of doubt at the moment - the same way as I wrote at the start of the season when there were those who wanted Adkins out that he should be given to Christmas - by then he had proved he could do the job. Poch is under pressure - all EPL managers are - but he is 'under the cosh' also because of the manner of his appointment and that is unfair on him. Lets hope he sorts it out - because if he can't - I would not be surprised if he is gone at the seasons end. Cortesse does not appear a forgiving sort... no doubt both Pardew and Adkins have a view on that subject!
