Going to have to be more than 3 - can't split it. Oasis Definitely Maybe Blur Modern Life Is Rubbish Beastie Boys Ill Communication Doves Some Cities Shed Seven A Maximum High
I'd put these above those... The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars - David Bowie Diamond Life - Sade Fine Young Cannibals - Fine Young Cannibals Eden - Everything But The Girl
Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath (they never came close again; Tony Iommi at his very best) Talking Book - Stevie Wonder (a masterclass) Definitely Maybe - Oasis (the king of the jukebox albums!)
Too hard to choose just 3!!! Did anyone see the 'history of the album' specials that were recently on BBC4? I saw a programme with Danny Baker presenting and had a panel of a woman from the music section in (I think it was) The Guardian, a bloke who I think was a record producer (didn't catch their names) and for some reason... Jeremy Clarkson. Anyway, at the end they all had to reveal their top 3 albums of all time, and two of the three picked by the record producer bloke were - Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders from Mars - The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars & Lou Reed - Transformer. Two albums Mick Ronson had a massive hand in making, yet he's rarely ever given any credit - he wasn't mentioned when talking about either album and while I was at the supermarket recently, two music mags (I think it was NME and possibly Q, or classic rock) had a 'Bowie through the ages' section - Mick Ronson was again, barely mentioned in either magazine. I like and listen to any type/genre of music possible, which makes it even tougher to pick just 3. Never really understood how anyone could only listen to one genre and dismiss other genres as rubbish, simply because they're not the one genre that person always listens to. A couple of my uni mates were massive classic rock fans and were forever trying to dismiss my attempts to state how great punk is, and especially hated me trying to convince them about dance music as the DJs "don't even play instruments" - I tried to tell them you have to look at a DJ not as a musician, but as a composer, then you can truly appreciate what they do. Didn't work though.
Dazzar, Bowie was a lucky bastard, he was made famous in early 70's with Ziggy and never gave any credit to Ronno who supplied all the great guitar riffs, some top class music arranging. Elton John says that Ronno was the best guitarist of the 70's & thats good enough for me.
Just to be different........ Prodigy - Music for the Jilted Generation Chemical Brothers - We are the Night Leftfield - Leftism
Surely The Masterplan is better than Be Here Now? I like BHN, but the quality of the songwriting and sound is nowhere near as good as TM.
1/ L.A. Woman - The Doors 2/ Rumours - Fleetwood Mac 3/ T.N.T. - AC/DC (Australian Version) very hard to leave Stevie Wright's album Hard Road out
Oasis Albums 1. Definitely Maybe 2. (What's The Story) Morning Glory? 3. The Masterplan 4. Be Here Now 5. Don't Believe The Truth 6. Standing On The Shoulders Of Giants 7. Dig Out Your Soul 8. Heathen Chemistry
A lot of people didn't like BHN, I agree with you that the songwriting wasn't Noel's best on BHN (because he was off his face for most of it) But I really do like it, just opinions I guess mate, TM is brilliant! There isn't an Oasis song I really dislike to be totally honest!
