Sad day for the OSC - but with the way Beard is communicating it doesn't surprise me: Got this from QPR Report:
Fans Liaison Officer. Philip Beard said Club needed to prioritise and would be unlikely to be able to fund necessary headcount for this role. He considered communication should be straightforward. -correct- Loyalty Points Philip Beard recognised the need to review the Loyalty Points scheme. -dont see whats wrong with it- Stewarding issues No further action despite several individual emails to the Club. -Seen zero problems myself, its perfect compared to away matches. Family Stand â OSC stated that the issue should have been handled more sensitively, with prior consultation. Philip Beard said the decision had to be made quickly and that the Lower Loft was the easiest section to change. The decision stands. OSC noted that the Box Office staff had worked well when moving supportersâ seats. -This was done wrong, about the only thing that the OSC should be persuing Ticket Touts brought up at meeting and emailed to Box Office. What controls in place to prevent this. Can tickets be tracked back to individuals? Club encouraged use of Viagogo. Nothing could be done to stop ticket touts. -Its the job of the police, not the club. Club tradition and history. Wanted contact maintained with ex-players and staff to keep tradition alive. Philip Beard happy to have a viable scheme set up if there was a particular purpose. -Who cares?- Hospitality too expensive for most regular supporters. Asked whether less expensive facilities could be provided for supportersâ special occasions. All hospitality packages to be sold at maximum cost in order to accrue maximum profits. -Hospitality was never for supporters, its for business use.- Im glad because they just seem to be people who want to stick their noses in and we have people all over the place doing that. The OSC, LSA, that media whore who gets his fingers into every story.
Cant say Im surprised. I have had an opinion for some time that Phil Beard talks the talk, but wont walk the walk. My own personal experience is that I feel that us fans are seen as a pain in the ar*e and that lip service is paid to our views. If I was giving him the benefit of the doubt, I guess he does have a few more important things on his mind at the moment, like possible relegation. The flip side though is that the whole club needs rebuilding, and communication with the fan base should be an integral part of that and should be taken seriously by the club. It is a bit strange that we have an OSC yet the club starts talking to a collection of fans from messageboards. Maybe its because the OSC is rarely heard of, but it is a club organised setup isnt it?
Exactly, if they were truly concerned about the club then they would join together and have one voice but they all want to be the leader, the one who can talk to the club and they will never give that up.
It's the attention they crave mate, it always has been with them. why did they publish this on a message board when they could of just wrote to the club? Trust me these lot will be re electing themselves before the beginning of next season..
This is something I would care about because it keeps respect alive for players and staff who served the club in whatever capacity and provides a link to struggles and achievements in previous campaigns. On a human level it is always nice to be recognised and remembered for previous service and helps link extended families and communities to the club and hopefully encourage young supporters along the rope bridge to the past.
Thats already done now, we have old players at the club on matchdays, we have old players featured on the OWS, at least we used to but Ive stopped going there and we also have old players interviewed in the program and on the radio show. Is that not enough? Were you really thinking something needed to be done before reading this thread?
To be honest Flyer, no, but I thought the 'who cares' was unnecessary and sounded insulting for no good reason. That's why I commented on it.
Well i just thought it was an incredibly stupid and needless thing to bring up at a meeting and thats why I gave it that reply. Its like someone thought it up just so their question would be in the limelight.
