Clever move by Liverpool sees Suso flick the ball into the path of Adam Morgan, who is on the right-hand side of the box but Morgan's shot flies over the bar and into the stands. Good move but poor finish.
Goal for Southampton but it's ruled out for offside. Excellent move by the Saints on the left-hand side sees the ball move into the left-hand side of the penalty box but as the ball is played in, the linesman rules that it was offside.
And as I posted that message, Southampton show us how to take a corner. Absolute quality ball in from a corner and the header by the Southampton player hits the post!
Could and should be 1-0 to Liverpool. Suso with an outstanding ball from the middle of midfield which cuts the Southampton defence open in an instant and Morgan is through... One on one with the Southampton 'keeper and he puts it wide!
1-0 down. Southampton's corners cause us problems once again. Played in to the back post and Forren volleys the ball into the corner of the net.
Half-Time: Southampton Under 21's 1-0 Liverpool Under 21's. - I though the opening to the game was fairly even. First 20 minutes saw both sides create not too much with much of the play in the midfield. Then Southampton started to produce more and Omar Rowe's set-pieces have been top class. Caused us a number of problems and one of them lead to the goal. I felt we got into the game more in the latter stages of the first half but we haven't been able to create too many clear-cut chances. Don't feel that the Shelvey in a central attacking position is working as he is dropping too deep and that means we he collects the ball, he doesn't have the options ahead of him. Think Inglethorpe will need to change that if we are to get back into the game.
Suso with another good ball into the path of Adam Morgan. This time it's on the right-hand side of the box but Morgan delays it and the block comes in from a Southampton defender. Should have hit it across the face of the goal earlier in my opinion. An improvement on the first half but haven't got that final ball right as yet.
Better from Liverpool. A couple of chances falling to Adorjan & Suso but both shots lack the required power and don't test the 'keeper.
