Heard Bruce on Radio Noocarsel this morning on the way to work, commenting on how Ellis Short and Niall Quinn had reacted to the disappointing season just gone. Interestingly he admitted they were both disappointed but split both men up in his assessment. He said of course Short was disappointed and he felt sure Quinn felt the same. Didn’t he know for sure? It’s only a play on words but being the conspiracy theorist I am, I kind of got the impression that Short was very unhappy with both Bruce and maybe Quinn as well and had made that known to both men? He did add that both men were aware of the injury situation and circumstances for the collapse and the seemingly very rapid transfer activity now would suggest that a real sense of urgency has been injected into Bruce’s hitherto laboured and at times lethargic attitude towards our recent demise. The excuses will have to stop now that’s for sure. I think there can be no doubt that a successful summer recruitment will need to be followed by a good start to the season now for Bruce to claw back the already lost credibility he has suffered and its going to be a case of watch this space over the next few months.
IMO He will be given up until Christmas to prove he's the man to lead the club forward. Although I'm sure Chris will be along shortly to confirm/deny this.
Its interesting that for once we will be making early signings rather than deadline day signings Ill believe it when it happens but the larrson and vaughan deals look done and dusted the way i keep reading into things. Then again i failed my exams because didn't read the questions properly read also somewhere Arsenal are interested in signing Samba for ã12m hope its false because there is my dream C/D gone
I would be shocked cest if this was not the case, Short is a very quiet man who hates the limelight but he is also a very successful business man, they do tend to demand success and the quiet ones are the worst. I have a lot of faith in Short, thats why I'm not into the Bruce out thing, Short I feel will make the correct choices.
The only problem of course in all of this, is not the run up to Christmas is it? He has done well 2 years running there. Where his problem lies is the 2nd half of the season where he ahs suffered 2 identical collapses now. A 3rd could be disastrous for us as a club.
Giving Bruce till xmas is in itself a bit of a challenge. Bruce's teams are always well up the table at xmas. It's January onwards that we need worry about! EDIT**sorry Cest, post overlapped!**
Why can't we have two managers Bruce up to xmas then any ****er after that untill the end of the season.
Great minds mate and all that? Another point of course to remember is not just who will be coming in but who will be going out? I like the look of Vaughan and Larsson and would love to think Samba (awesome footballer) and N'zogbia would be on the radar but if Ferdinand, Mensah and Onuoha are leaving, our defence looks very thin in numbers. If Bramble is struggling along with Turner to be fit for next season already, we will be in trouble very quickly come August and September?
Why don't we all manage the team second half of the season, we clearly know everything about football!..
I dare say this West Ham game could still have an effect on whether mr bruce is still in a job next season. A heavy defeat to an already relegated team could be to much to swallow, add to the fact that noocarsel will then end the season above us I think the axe may fall. For the record I hope we stuff west ham, finish above the skunks and bruce can start concentrating on bringing in a host of quality additions to the playing (and medical?) staff.
I disagree. I think the discussion about his future has already been agreed but I do think he is on a shortened leash now.
If, as it seems to be, there is a quick move in the transfer market, that to me implies Bruce is safe in his job. It depends on how much he is given to spend as to how safe he is. (In my opinion).
Now that is frightening Empty stadium and banners everwhere BC out. He would still be too stubburn to walk, he does not listen to anyone
I've always fancied a 3-5-2 like. Swamp the midfield, encourage the other teams down the wings, no need for a ****ing specialist left back....
I think people of this forum should take the club over, we seem to know what we are doing, Chris can be chief scout...
Yeah send him to the North Pole there will be no scouts up there and he will have the pick of the bunch just don,t give him a laptop
