Jamie Redknapp in the Daily Mail today......

    STAR MAN: PARK JI-SUNG
A big win for QPR at Southampton and two players stood out — Jose Bosingwa and Park Ji-sung. Neither has settled well at QPR but both have Champions League medals and top pedigree. Their experience came to the fore and Park won’t have played better since leaving Manchester United.

Bosingwa gets a surprise acknowledgement. I personally thought both players had a good solid game. Bosingwa did well considering he had no help from Remy as he didn't do any tracking back. ( Not a criticism. )

I agree - Park continually harried Saints players to prevent them the opportunity to settle on the ball. I also thought Boswinga had a very solid game. Unlike Remy, who we needed up there to take advantage of potential breaks out of defence, Hoilett did an great job tracking back in a defensive role and he set up Remy with a terrific pass (a bit like those plays on the Spurs goals today). So all three of these out of favour squad outsiders really contributed on Sat. Now if only we could add Granero to that list?

    Agree 100%.

Bosingwa did have a good game as well. There was a moment where he twirled around the defender and circled him with a spin and then got rid of the ball beautifully.

Park was just fantastic. I hope he can continue to play this way to the end of the season.

gimmethickerhoops is racist and blind. I know what I'm talking about when it comes to football. I've been right all along.

I agree re park. He's usually sh*te but did a great job on saturday. You've got to watch the way opposition players respond to the pressure he puts on them. So many times the Saints players got panicky and rushed a pass, or went backwards. His positioning was good as well, it often cut off a lot of potential passing options for them. I thought he was involved in some nice intricate interplay with teammates on a few occasions as too, which is something we haven't seen as much from him.

Park? Obviously the final ball across to Bothroyd was vital. But I can also recall seeing (albeit via a dodgy stream) too many incidents of him flailing around like a drunk on rollerskates either trying to win or failing to keep the ball...

    Just don't get this!
I watched the entire game back on football first and Park had easily his best game for us. Worked tirelessly and was just like his old self at Utd when making the Betty goal.
I do think that some people take a dislike to certain players and then just refuse to see it when they play well.

I also thought Bosingwa played well. I have never doubted his ability, more his attitude. If he's turning the latter around we will have a good full back.

I thought Remy DID track back more than I would have expected. Hoilett's work-rate was a very pleasant surprise.

Sure. Not all of us benefit from your wisdom, even temperament and expert football analysis skills. I'm not joking. I don't know much about how football is played. I just go to QPR.

    Evidently.
Seriously though, you only mentioned Park's cross, but it was the work he did leading up to the cross that was more like the Park who was at Utd imo.

Exactly! Absolutely spot on. I'm not saying that he was perfect, and he's had some lackluster matches, but this game, he was exactly why we were able to keep them off balance the entire game.

This! I don't get why people are down on him so much. We should judge them match-by-match. Not everybody has great games every time, obviously.

Now as for Samba........ he's well dodgy with crosses from the flanks. I think he only won one or may be two from the sides.

Park had probably his best game for us but remember most of the time we weren't very good in midfield, overrun and couldn't put 3 passes together, caused ourselves just as many problems as Southampton High pressing game did.

I thought Hoilett did a good job also, tracked back more than I'd even seen him do and was positive when ever he had the ball.

This! I thought Bosingwa, Hill, Samba, Remy, Hoillet, Traore, Green were all good or better. We were let down in midfield for me where Mbia played his normal defensive game well but his passing was very hit and miss, Granero had 2 excellent passes one which opened another chance for Remy soon after he scored, and a good free kick right before half time that we also nearly scored from, but otherwise made many inaccurate simple passes; and Park who made our goal brilliantly, but otherwise seemed nearly as lost and off the pace as ever for me, though he tried hard enough; Jenas didn't make much impact either. Also Cesar was at fault for their goal and not at his best.

Yes, but sometimes that's how it is in the midfield - we didn't have much possession, we were on the chase, we lost possession in the middle, but - we scored on the two semi-counter attacks from good passes up field, which were controlled nicely and we took the chances with great finishes. That's how it is sometimes. We scored twice from only 3 attempts on goal, FFS! Think about that stat! It means we barely got shots on goal, but we took our chances!

It meant that we were lucky, don't get me wrong this was a fantastic result and something to build on but lets not have people saying this was a great performance. Having said that isn't it a great sign if you win when your playing badly..hmm contradicting myself now.
