as i expected really, I thought we would be hung over after the easiest cup wins in history but the first half proved positive and i thought we would do enough to win, but the second half we were not so effective and toon had their chances but failed to score. I would not have complained if the toon had drew or even won in the end but we held on and that's what happens in football sometimes. Im glad of the 3pts to put us on the magic 40pt safety but we had to hang on to get them.....bad luck toon and good luck for the rest of the season....

At least Sunderland didn't win playing at home.

A draw would have been a fair result. We were superb at times in the first half and should have scored at least one. You weren't in it at all. Second half you pressed us more (the only way to play us really) and could easily have gone ahead. A bit of smash and grab but that's football.

Oh and Phil K - you're an embarrassment to a great Club. You're a stupid little kid who should grow the **** up.

That defeat was pretty galling, I thought we'd at least hang on for a draw, and probably win by the odd goal after our performance in the second half. We totally dominated large sections of that second half and Swans did very little. Some shocking defending for the goal, if Willo had done that we would have been baying for blood.

The Swans fans did seem mighty quiet too.

True. You know you're at a two-bit club when they play music after the home team scores.

...a two-bit Club that's currently 10 points ahead of you and won silverware this season. So what does that make Newcastle? <laugh> You're stuck with a Manager who shags players' wives and is a poor tactician.

    Enjoy. <ok>

A shame that there's always one or two at every club but I'll just ignore them and I do not include them in my following comments.

Firstly I would like to congratulate the Newcastle fans yesterday, before during and after the game a class apart. Very friendly and very knowledgeable. I was talking to a few lads that I've seen the last two seasons at the Black Bull at your place and the Harvester at ours. Top class and I wish your team all the best for the rest of the season.

As for the game, well we all know that sometimes you don't always get what you deserve in football and I thought defeat for you was pretty hard to take. When you decided to play a bit in the 2nd half I was impressed and you look a very good team. I thought Ben Arfa was a big miss for you and I look forward to seeing him back in your team firing on all cylinders. Perhaps a draw would have been a fair result but I hope the decent Geordies out there don't begrudge us our win.
Look at it from our point of view, we've done the double over a massive club something that would have been unthinkable only a few short years ago. Next season it could be you doing the double over us and at least you didn't lose to the Mackems.

Good luck lads, top class team and fans and always a pleasure to visit your board. Gandalf is a legend

    A. Forget the idiots.
    B. Enjoy the football.
    C. Enjoy the banter. That's part of football and what connects us all.

Our defence was pretty horrible whenever Swansea went forward, with only Saylor worthy of credit. Elliot was shocking, and still looks fat... The movement of the forwards and midfielders caused them all sorts of problems, and as poor as the Swans were for once, we still appeared to panic and **** ourselves when really they barely threatened.

Attacking wise, Santon and Debuchy were decent, and the midfield did a decent job of controlling the game, but the worst player on the park was the real architect of our downfall... Step forward wor Papiss, comfortably contender for the worst striker St James' will ever see in his darkest moments, and boy is he having too many dark moments at present. Should have scored a couple and the game should have been deservedly won, but alas. I know everyone will be blaming the defence completely, but really with the way we set-up is to attack and score more than the opposition, but if we don't score it's a useless tactic.

Wish we had Demba back, we'd have had a quality team. Unfortunately we're Blunt-er than the pop-charts when we were in full-blown recession. Ah well... It would have been disrespectful to rob Swansea of their moment, or even diminish it, so congrats to them <ok>

Yep, a good tactic if executed well, but relies on at least one regular scorer, or a team that can share the goals around. We need a 15+ goalscorer as a minimum.
