Well played by Siggy today. I thought he should start and he justified it with a brilliant assist. Should have added the third to make it more comfortable but you can understand that he may be low on confidence. Hopefully he can kick on from here.

Thought 2-1 was probably a fair reflection of the game. I hate Bale and Sig now, had 80/1 on Bale FS 3-1 and those Berkshire Hunt's fluffed easy chances at 3-1:emoticon-0173-middl

I watch Arsenal and they just don't seem to learn from mistakes. That game was a carbon copy of the Chelsea and to a lesser extent United games they played away.

Teams surrender the ball to Arsenal in non-threatening areas and expose their backline with pace/counter attacking, almost every top team has Arsenal sussed out and it can't be a coincidence they get little joy against Spurs, Chelsea, United, City and even Swansea who all play the same way against them.

For Spurs it was Bale and Lennon
For Chelsea it was Mata and Ramires
For Arsenal it was RVP and Rooney

Cheers mate.. We never do anything the easy way! By the way, if you could transfer just a smidgen of your graciousness to that "moderator" of yours, Peskie....

I do admire the way you pass & move. If we could do that!...

  6. Happy Sunday Guys!!!
Just back and cannot remember too many happier journeys, including listening to some of the post-match comment - but more of that later....

    A few early thoughts:
    1. The Goons just about took the possession stakes, but apart from a couple of crosses (including the own goal) and one occasion when Sig went missing on the left leaving Ramsey unmarked, I cannot recall too many chances for them.
    2. We didn't play particularly well, but again WON.
    3. The defence as a whole was excellent, but Verts was immense - right back to the form that he was showing at the start of the season.
    4. Parker & Dembele worked their socks off, as the Goons set up to flood the midfield.
    5. Great to see Azza get another goal and putting in another excellent performance - well at least for the last 75 mins.
    6. Clattenburg didn't have a bad game by any means, although I am guessing that both teams might think he did. We benefited from the Sig foul on Cazorla, but the Goons were allowed to get away with a load of off the ball holding and pulling that never got called. And the Lino did really well to not call for offside against Bale.
    7. Defoe looked sharp and fit when he came on. But don't be too hard on Ade, who pulled the Goons defence all over the place. Defoe was always going to have an easier time coming in late when there was more space to run into and tired defenders around him.
    8. I can't recall too many shots on goal for the Goons, but in the 2nd half, Defoe, Sigs and Bale all had chances they should have buried or at least hit the target!! Would have made the last 25 mins a lot more comfortable.

As for the radio, Wenger sounded quite sensible for once - acknowledging his defence are ****e, although he couldn't help but have a dig at our 'persistent fouling' breaking up play.... <wah>

The only other thing that I keep hearing is 'our difficult run-in' being worse than the Goons or Chavs. Well, the next 5 will be tough, but the last 4 would be difficult to better Wigan, Soton, Stoke & Sunderland. All the sides will drop points around us, so if we manage to get at least 6 to 8 more points from those next 5 games then our rivals will have a real fight on their hands. Too early for predictions, but I reckon all options are possible!!

Finally, this side DESERVES to succeed. They play football the right way with a smile on their faces, work hard for each other and never seem to know they are beaten.

Well done lads - you did us proud!! <applause>

Not sure which game you were watching, Relayer - it certainly wasn't the same one as this bloke...

Just back as well from a pulsating and jumping White Hart Lane. Jeez that was nerve wracking. You've pretty much said what I was going to say, although I will mention Dawson who I thought was outstanding today and also how great it was to have a really good atmosphere in the stadium again, something which has been lacking this season.

Try to act surprised when this poster's half time analysis gets him banned from the Gooner board...

Meanwhile, there seemed to be a few of 'em thinking that they were getting the thin end of Clattenberg's wedge...

Lastly, retrospect can be a bitch...

On the way home from the lane, was going to give an in-depth analysis of the game but I think it should be kept short & sweet.

"We beat the scum 2-1, we beat the scum 2-1. 2-1, we beat the scum 2-1. "

    Enough said!!

  12. Absolutely agree re: Daws, OS - he was immense too. Just thought that Verts performance was on another level. His calmness on the ball throughout was exceptional and even managed a great ball to release Bale late on.

Good shout on the atmosphere as well. Although to be fair, the Goons added to that.

HBIC - those comments are laughable frankly. I actually expected the Whinger to be the one hiding behind 'poor refereeing' costing them, but haven't heard that yet. There are a few die-hard Goons who clearly still cannot see there own failings and a few other twats who are just too stupid to recognise it.

Talking of which... Anyone seen or heard from Peskie yet? <whistle>

As thick skinned & boneheaded as he is, I don't think we'll hear from him for a while.

Their defence is a joke...virtually non existent at times. If we could pass and move the way they do, we would have crucified them

  16. 2 open goal chances (Sigs & Bale, plus a pretty clear chance for Defoe) suggests we could and perhaps should have done it anyway, mate!!

There were three reasons why Arsenal were not going to win today which are these. Spurs are on a run of one goal wins and we are not going to break that run with a defeat, only a two goal win. I looked at the result against bottom three Villa and it was a very unconvincing one goal win. Thirdly look at the table which is why I said a 1-0 would suit me. It goes 8.4.2 with a goal difference of eight and away it goes 8.2.4 with a goal difference of eight. It was a difference of seven at home and I felt we'd win by one goal to even up the home and away figures.

Also it was AVB's 28th match of the season and unmapped territory. He sarted the season at Chelsea and they went on to win the CL. He comes here and we win at O/T for the first time for yonks. Arsenal was his 28th match and as something always happens with AVB I'd knew we'd win it.
