FYI astroturfnaut, if you agree with someone you vote their post up, not down. That's the problem with bad habits, really...
Liverpool gone 4-0 up at Wigan as I type this and Suarez now top scorer in PL. Cue the claims that he's the best in the PL and should be footballer of the year 29 points behind Utd with 10 games left. I'll take a punt in saying that he hasn't made a title winning contribution.
What has Liverpool's position got to do with Suarez being footballer of the year or not? Surely it's easier to score goals if you play for Utd than if you're at Liverpool? Meaning Suarez being top scorer shows how good he is
Better than your logic of thinking a player can't be better than his Utd counterpart because you're top of the league
I agree with the Goon on this one, for the most part. It's harder to play well in a worse team. Suarez is doing a great job of advertising himself for a summer move...
But where was he when they couldn't buy a win? This is a team which can't get a result against those teams above them. By this logic Graeme Hick is the best batsman of the last 40 years, rather than a flat track bully.
I think if any player finishes top scorer he deserves to be in with a very good shout of winning the player of the year award.
He might not be in a great team but he's not scoring against great teams either. 9 goals against Norwich and Wigan is impressive but he's only scored 6 goals against top half opposition, including a 2nd string Swansea side. He's a great player having an excellent season but you can't overlook RVP's contributions in key games for United.
There was a statistic on the MNF, RVP`s goals have directly won 22 points for Utd this season, Bale was second on the list of five with 15 points. Sewerez didnt even make the short list, which tells us most of his goals come against weak opposition who Liverpoo would have still beaten without him. Good player, but he rarely makes a difference in the biggest games.
He has scored against City, Chelsea, Everton, and Arsenal this season and we still have to play you lot, Everton and Chelsea at Anfield.
Unfortunately we have to accept Suarez is a class player, but not a class act (in a personal sense). Yes IMO he's a vile dirty cheating little rat, that I personally can't stand, but why is he in my fantasy football team? because I know hes a top player that scores, assists and is one of the leagues top stars. Although I can't see him picking up player of the season awards as I doubt he's liked by his fellow pros, so his form can be over looked. Players like RVP & Bale have a better reputation and are more likeable characters so considering all three are in great form this season then I can see Bale & RVP winning the end of season awards.
I know Style's comment is sort of tongue in cheek, but would you vote for Suarez if you'd played against him?
