The beauty is, you don't even have to go. All you need to do is SAY you're going. The so called Police intelligence simply involves them reading message boards. They will be reading this. If people say they are or they might go, they have to at least have resources on stand by or they'll look absolute idiots (okay, even bigger idiots) if/when some DO go.

Don't forget, most of the 'control' they apply is based on legislation that is only effective to people going to a football match. WYP have refused us that option, so that legislation cannot apply. <ok> Their only other choice would be to ban non-football fans from Hull going to Huddersfield. <laugh>

Either way, any money they've tried to save is wasted, which kills a big plank of their argument.

Your 'question'/assumption was that I'd ignored that. I didn't. I sought clarification elsewhere. Move on.

The police wouldn't allow the kick-off time to be changed without the restrictions, but that's not what you said, you said the game would have been cancelled if we returned the tickets.

Returning the tickets would have had absolutely no affect on the game going ahead.

Great idea and win win for me as my wife seems to think if I'm boycotting the game I will take her out for Easter Saturday instead....

I feel trip out in West Yorkshire will do nicely!!

DMD \ OLM ; I want to send Karl Turners reply onto HTSA, both clubs and the "Parliamentary football liason comittee chairman " or some such title .. one of you posted a letter he'd written asking WYP to justify their restrictions but I cant find it now. Okay cheers.

Thats fine then as Damien Green was cc'd yesterday.
The email was a reply to Amanda Jacks, also cc'd was Diana Johnson the Huddersfield Examiner, Burnsey and Andrew Percy MP for my area & Goole, I'm going to chase him again as he's been silent on this so far.

Didnt bother with HDM seemed a waste of time, wrong sport!

Bit harsh, the HDM and Humberside, especially Burnsy have really backed us up on this one.

A word of warning. I understand there's a possibility of a 'critical mass' rally in the area around the ground during the afternoon of the game. For those that don't know, it's a case of flooding a specific area with traffic so it becomes grid locked. I can't see it happening myself, but there's talk of a lesser protest involving just key traffic points (think what happens when one car breaks down on Sully Way). Either way it could hold the teams up on their way to the game. Fans should be ok as they get a Police escort, unless the police are tied up on other duties.

All this talk of peaceful protest outside the ground etc makes me a bit uneasy because all it takes is a few hot heads having a go when the police turn up and then it turns into a scuffle and escalates and then the police can say "told you so".

Very true, but with the media there as well as many people with camera-phones, it'd only add to the opinion that the WYP are not fit for purpose when multiple videos showing the blame hit the media (assuming the Police manage to provoke anyone that is)

Of course it's equally possible nobody at all will be going and we'll all be spending our hard earned cash locally, while the rate payers of West Yorks STILL pay through the nose for Policing but get no visitor income in return . <laugh>

I thought it probably would be, but our media have really backed us on this one, Burnsy especially so I felt I needed to defend them.

Are you proud of this post Dutch? To suggest that the good folk on Tiger Travel are not supporting the team and are in fact selling the team and their fellow supporters down the river (by attending the Udders match) is nothing short of shameful.

Let me guess, I have taken your words out of context and you have of course every right to delete this comment and close this thread, as you have with others today.

Do not agree with DMD's post at all. Supporters are just that, supporters, no matter how they travel to the game or whether they just go to home or away games. There are some people who for financial reasons or work reasons only get to a few games a season but that doesn't mean that they don't care about the club and support them. There is no point in boycotting the game it will not do the team any good, its not their fault WYP have behaved in this way. Everyone agrees they are wrong and out of order but not supporting the team on the day will not make any difference to the situation.

I go on tiger travel and would have gone to udders but will be going in my car to the protest instead.I fully support many freinds who like a few beers and a laugh at away games.
I hate trouble causers and the police should deal with them and ban them(ie do their job).
I also doubt the atmoshere will be anything other than funereal in the Ull end and I imagine the Udders fans may well express their opinions of the fans who attend.
It is your right to go but you would be niaive to think you will not be criticised.
You may realise when you are in the ground that you have made a mistake.
I personally think this match will go down in foke lore for City fans and I know what I want to be able to say I did that day
AS with wyp it is not too late to re-consider
