I agree with most of that though I can tell you it's gone down like a pork-pie at a Jews wedding on another forum.

Provan makes a few valid points. It is going to probably get even more tedious.

Celtic have done really well in Europe this season, but normally you find when a Scottish team gets a decent run going for the next few seasons they tend not to do as well. The only exception to this really was possibly WGS when he took them to the last 16 two years in a row. I don't know why that is maybe because Scottish teams are punching above our weight. Maybe it's because they lose the element of surprise the next season. If Celtic don't get a Euro run going it will be really boring for them.

The same goes for us if the league reconstruction thing comes about and we have to play all these same teams again I'm going to be totally crashed out on match days. The uniqueness of our situation has kept us going, but I'm beginning to find this season really boring now.

The low attendances are more to do with the price than having rangers in the spl.

Did the ticket prices go up substantially from last season then? A mate who is a season ticket holder for you lot told me that the European package offered was far better value than previous seasons.

Season ticket prices and the cost of living has risen since last year.

This is petty stuff, Moses.

Not meaning to be Tina. I was trying to ascertain whether it was the price of going to the games that have led to attendances falling or the boredom that Provan espouses.

Eric said it was the price of the tickets while I personally still believe it's the lack of a competitive league.

It's probably a combination of things, including both the things you and Eric mentioned. Also, there's so many games on telly these days and people are lazy.

When things get tight for families, and it does happen, for many reasons, the first thing to go is the season ticket.

It's a luxury at £500+ per pop.

The jump from the junior prices to adult is ridiculous imo.

Sorry I posted the last one without reading this. I would agree with you it's hardly the way to encourage youngsters to attend the games. For the sake of the future of the game you have got to keep them coming along.

Green: I’m out in open
Gers chief launches thinly veiled attack on Celts
ATTACK ... Charles Green
ATTACK ... Charles Green

CHARLES GREEN has launched a thinly veiled attack on Celtic and claimed: At least I’m open about wanting to quit Scottish football.

The Hoops questioned Lord Nimmo Smith’s decision not to strip Rangers of their titles between 2000 and 2011.

In their statement Celts also claimed the club was cementing its place at the top of Scottish football.

Green has made no secret of his desire to leave after the way the club was treated in the wake of its liquidation.

Without naming the Hoops directly, he said: “I have said, and will continue to say, I’m going to explore every avenue to get Rangers out of Scotland.

“But I don’t say it in a darkened room — unlike some clubs who have little clandestine meetings and little whispers. At least I stand on the soap box and tell everyone.”

Anybody who says not playing Rangers in the SPL has lessened the attraction of SPL matches is at it...

Of course it going to be missed... the death of a 100 year + rivalry doesn't just go away.

Do you not miss the build up of the "Old Firm" games?

The match itself, usually pish matches, but does the football on show not matter as long as your team gets a result?

I gave up my season ticket a few seaosn ago due to rising cost... but I would never even think of buying a new one with the only games available being Celtic v Ross County/Motherwell/Dundee etc due to the cost.

I would much rather the rest of the spl got better and competed than bring rangers back and go back to the old ways. Isn't that what celtic and rangers have been complaining about for years?

It may very well be boring - but the alternative of pushing one team up the ladder at the expense of all other teams who are there on merit is a non runner.

It would be less boring as a Celtic fan if we moved to the English Premier League - but we can't, mainly for exactly the same reason.
