Well, when dealing with a bloke who thinks a pavement is a footpath, nothing is out of the question...
Bale is developing from a player who was capable of moments of brilliance, into a brilliant player. He's different class at the minute & looks capable of winning games almost single handedly. Buck tooth has had a very good season, but he's a ****, so that will count against him & rightly so, the diving, cheating, racist, snide. Cazorla? nah, great talent, but inconsistent & has disappeared in the vast majority of 'big games' they've had this season. Michu is being judged with his price tag in mind imo, so whilst he's been very good & definitely the buy of the season, he's not been the star attraction. Baines has been superb for us yet again, he's been playing like this for about 3 seasons, he's just been largely ignored for whatever reason. RvP will win it imo, as his goals will ultimately prove to be the difference when the season is looked back upon. United bought him to score goals & he's delivered, but he's got the knack of scoring vital goals, at vital times & it's this that sets him apart imo.
Probably a fair assessment, but don't ignore the ability of the FWA to pick the 'underdog' like they did with Parker. Tho' the underdog usually needs to be a plucky young English lad with a good history of underachievement and plenty of grit and sticktoitiveness in order to be considered. Just ask Stevie Me Like I said above, they seem to pick great defenders only when they are part of great defences. Terry won in in 2005 on the back of Chelsea's great defence that season (more thanks to Carvalho imo) and Rio, Vidic and VDS all got nominated on the back of our great defence in 2009. For some reason they always seem to overlook the great defenders who are performing without being surrounded by similar levels of quality.
Only the deluded miserable scousers fans and their manager can think that Suarez is POTY in the premiership this season. As Swarbs said he did nothing to enhance the position of his club. He scored against lower half teams. RVP's goals kept United at the top, Bale pulled and kept his team in the top 3, Michu has pulled the Swans into midtable and out of danger. What has Suarez done apart from dragging the club into the gutter with his cheating and his dodgy behaviour towards black players? TBH i think he would be a waste of a nomination.
His chance conversion rate sucks compared to rvp. Just like Torres everything Liverpool do attack wise is geared towards him so you'd expect him to have a lot. By rights he should have twice as many goals as RVP because we create chances for all players. Half the time he wastes chances with poor finishing or tries some stupid dribble and loses possession. Not to mention he's a dirty, cheating, violent, racist thug who's more likely to be throwing a buck toothed strop and stamping on people in the final minutes of the game than getting an important goal.
Opinion of a pool fan: Players of the season most likely is: RVP, Bale or Suarez. (id be surprised if it wasnt one of these three) The next best have been: Mata, Baines, Walcott and Michu. Id be putting my money on Bale as Tottenham are in the top four and it is basically Bale who has got them there. Out of all the players the most missed by a long wway would be Bale as without him Spurs would not be able to buy a goal. Suarez has had an awesome season, but the fact that no one l;ikes him apart from the fans of the team he is playing for will always count against him. Im sure other players have had awesome seasons, but have gone more unnoticed due to not hitting the back of the net....From Liverpool, Glen Johnson has had a brilliant season, and im sure other teams have players who have gone under the radar
Well said. Bale can miss every chance he has for the rest of the season and still win it. Why? Because he's British.
Suarez is a great player ( hate to say this because i hate him) but he doesn't deserve to win the player of the year, Van persie does because what had Suarez done against big teams? while Van Persie scored against all the team in the top 6. you can't expect a player to keep on scoring against weaker teams and then be hoping to win the player of the year award, you have to perform in big games too like Van Persie done this season. So Van Persie does deserve to win the player of the year. No doubt.
He is quality you numpties and will be right up there for player of the year along with RVP and Bale. I find it easy to say RVP is quality despite being at United. Shame some of you lot aren't all there.
i admit Suarez is a great player, he is quality but im just saying RVP should win the player of the year.
Isn't most of the voting for player of the year usually done around early to mid February (if not earlier)? I could be wrong, but if it is it could definitely effect the winner because some of Bale's best moments have been very recent, where as RVP was on fire for United most of the season before that. For me personally I think it's a two horse race between RVP and Bale, Suarez has had a very good season but unlike the other two, he hasn't really made a game winning contribution in the big games.
