not his best tbh.. some bad passes .. some desperate shots instead of passing , but to be fair, his pass for 2nd was great, and his goal was sublime and he did better after the 2nd goal with more space in front of him .. so overall a mix performance of good and bad today with him becoming good at the end ..
I had to settle for listening to the game on the radio but have since seen the goals. Kagawa's finishing was incredibly calm, particularly for a player who has struggled to adapt to the PL. Rooney's goal was brilliant. Jimmy Armfield, one of the few pundits whose opinion I respect, was drooling about Rooney's performance and the way he makes the team tick.
Was at the match today and thought it was played at a "practice game " pace. Improved a little in the second half when Cleverley and Wellbeck came on but overall, nowhere near one of our better performances. I'm sure our players, whilst wishing to win, had one eye on Tuesday night's game, so no injuries would have been foremost in their minds. A lot of needless "tip tapping passes ",when in the box , where a shot would have been a better option. Still 4-0 is not to be sniffed at but Norwich were by far the worst team I have seen at Old Trafford this season. Couldn't understand why Norwich were so negative and the only save I can remember our David making, was when he had to stretch his leg over his head, to stop a wayward pass from Evans going for a corner. Isn't 15 a lovely number!!!!!!
Was listening on the radio, and it sounded like we spent a lot of time preparing for the Madrid game, i.e. just keeping possession and holding the opponents at arm's length. Will be harder to achieve against Real, but it's something we'll need to do given how Mourinho sets his team up. We'll need to be able to take the sting out of the game at crucial moments - the last thing we want is another Ronaldo hat trick at OT!
I bet math is gutted he can't tell us that he was right about kagawa an that he is world class.. I miss math.. Can we let him out his cage yet??
We should, I miss him also. Radio was also my chosen medium and I have to say I trust Radio 5 more than I do our French correspondent. His expectation of only perfection from Rooney every week is bizarre to be honest.
Every pass to be perfect, every run and every shot must lead to a goal otherwise Rooney is having a crap game. Kagawa? He will need to score 20 goals, make 20 successful tackles, make 20 incisive passes before he could even be assessed to have had a good game by some jackass on here...
On the evidence of yesterday we could have some player on our hands next season. The injury was always going to set his progress back as someone new to our league and his anonymity in the Real first leg was a shame, but the truth is Fergie should probably not have picked him. He looks ready for Tuesday though. As for Rooney; best player, best work ethic, talisman and goal scorer and creator, driving force. Not flawless by any means but sometimes certain people expect way too much and the odd stray pass is nothing compared to what he gives.
Bit too early to say that imo. He's showing why we bought him, but needs to keep it up for a longer period of time. At the moment I'm still concerned he could be another Anderson - playing great when on form, but then gets injured and takes ages to get back up to scratch. Completely agree. I still maintain Rooney's greatest quality is that he can be off form, struggling for goals, way below his usual standard, and yet still contributes goal and assists and wins matches like clockwork. Even when he's not the focus of our attack. This season, when he has apparently been rubbish, he's got 14 goals and 12 assists in 27 matches in all competitions. Last season it was 42 games, 34 goals, 5 assists QED
Oh yeah, the jury is still out but I suspect his work rate and dedication to his fitness will be way higher than Anderson which will aid him no end. Just a hunch but he appears the type. I maintain that most of Andersons problems are self inflicted and if he kept himself fitter he would get less injuries and so would get more games and form. A lot is his own fault, clearly, which is why I have less patience with him.
Hughton has been quite negative compared to Lambert and a lot of our fans have complained about the tactics. It's hard to say how we would have fared had Lambert stayed but the tactics have worked quite well in terms of our number one aim of survival.Well done United.Personally I am hoping that you win by a record margin this year.It would be a good finale for SAF.
Spot on. We're talking about Rooney here, not some hillybilly from a wee club. On the basis of stats, 1 assist and 1 goal, Rooney had a very good game but for most part of the first hour or so, his touch, dummies, lay offs were not up to standard. And Kagawa, didn't we always know that he had the natural talent? Hopefully those goals will help his confidence to play with more conviction.
indeed.. can't agree more and hope those goals will give Kagawa the confidence he was lacking in the previous matches
no one deny that Rooney is our 2nd best attacker at the moment for all the qualities you mentioned above but should we expect more? YES we do, from what i read his salary and winning bonus is more than the one for Messi and CR (15m, compared to 12m & 13m) ignore that, he was our best players in the past seasons even when we had CR, i could never had fault anything he put in on the pitch before.. it was almost flawless ... but now ... even with his goals/assist and work rate, his current form is a shadow of the past .. I don't remember Sir Alex taking him out before bcz his form was average/crap .. it happened already 2 times this season .. and if he stayed at some other games when playing badly, is just bcz he is the type of players than can score/assist at any moment and change the game.. yes he never lost that ability in changing games, but his form has dropped compared to the previous seasons.. we can get away with it facing weaker sides, but definitely not facing stronger sides , we need him to be at his best
