Tomorrow is the North London derby. Arsenal v Spurs. Spurs are currently 4th with 51 points. Arsenal are 5th with 47 points. We are 7th with 42 points. Everton are 6th with 45 points. If Spurs win the gap between us and Arsenal in 5th sits at 5 points with 10 games remaining. A genuinely realistic chance to catch up. 5th would guarantee us Europa League. Spurs sit in 4th with 54 points, 12 points ahead of us. But the current 9 points to 4th is already a big challenge to over come. 5th would be a great finish. If the game is draw Arsenal will still be only 6 points about us so the above scenario with 5th does not change much. Spurs sit 10 points ahead of us. But 5th is 1 point further away. 1 point could mean a lot at the end of the season. But 4th is closer than it would be if Spurs won. Arsenal win - Arsenal would be 8 points ahead of us. Spurs stay on 51 points, 9 points ahead of us. Next week we play Spurs. If Spurs win tomorrow we could close the gap to 9 points by beating them next week. If it is a draw tomorrow we could close the gap on 4th to 7 points by winning next week. If Arsenal win we can close the gap on 4th to just 6 points. But Arsenal could move into 4th with 53 points. We would have 45 points and Spurs 51.
No chance of catching Spurs, they wont fold. A draw or Spurs win would be best. I'd go for the draw though.
I can't see us finishing 4th or 5th so i'm not too bothered on the result of tomorrow's game. Don't think it will affect our season too much unless one of the them collapses completely. (Which seems unlikely in my opinion) I'm just hoping for a good game!
It partly depends on how long either stay in Europe. Arsenal are probably doomed but the Europa League can be a tiring contest. CL exit depression could hit Arsenal. I dont see much spirit in the Arsenal players other than Walcott and Wilshere. Even Wenger looks blue.
Whilst people are saying that neither of them will collapse, I can't get out of my mind the mess of the Arsenal defence and the fact that a Hamstring pull or a knock on the ankle for Bale and Spurs may as well go home. I really don't think this is over yet.
It is what it is. We need either or both to collapse. Id usually favour Arsenal over Spurs but Arsenal losing I think will do us more good. They're teetering.
All we can do is keep winning and see where we end up. I'm still hoping all the teams above us draw when they meet eachother though, just to see how far we can move up.
I prefer spurs to lose to us and Arsenal, I'd rather Arsenal get 4th. 5th or 6th gets us into the EL anyway doesn't it. Can't say I'd be too depressed if we missed out on the EL tbh
It depends who reaches the FA cup final. Europa league goes to: 5th place guaranteed Fa Cup winners - unless they finish in top 5 - then it goes to FA cup runners up - if they are in top 5 - Then it goes to 6th place finisher. League Cup winners - Swansea Last season was interesting as the 6th place team won the CL and FA cup and the FA cup runners up (us) won the LC. This put 4th place Spurs in EL. 6th place Chelsea in CL. Stoke played in last season EL after loosing the FA cup final to City.
A draw would be best for us. Still think Spurs would drop more points, if not for bale they'd have probably lost the game against West ham. They've get some tough fixtures ahead, i think Arsenal would just edge them for the CL place.
Don't care as we won't catch either. Plus, I'd prefer Arsenal and Tottenham getting top four over Chelsea
Cheers for that matey. Not sure now, although the less I go to the spuds board the less I hate their fans 6th is the best we'll do this year realistically, Arsenal are not worse than us at the moment, they are and have been better all season. There is as much chance of them collapsing as there is up ending up 9th or 10th
we don't want Bale getting any goals do we? he isn't far off RVP and Suarez for goals scored i think, although you are probably taking the piss, so ignore me lol. best outcome whatever the result is bad injury for Bale and Walcott (out for season) then both clubs seasons over in one hit hopefully.
