Pochettino beat Man city, Not Chelsea. Worth pointing out that it was a Man City team who hardly turned up. I'd start to get worried if i were you, Pochettino has been found out and hes only managed 6 games. And no i can't prove that Nigel would have won those games but what you can prove is that Nigel had found a way of wining important games, something which we have now lost.
No it doesn't, but we haven't seen enough of him to say he's a good manager either. Jury's still out, but 1 win in 6 is relegation form, no matter how well we might have played. I'm as willing as anyone else to give him the benefit of the doubt, and I truly hope he is successful with us, but today was a shocker.
****e game, both sides were very poor today and neither deserved to win, but QPR did so fair play. 1 win in 6 games is really concerning form - doesn't matter how well we play in those games, results matter. As it stands, i still think we were wrong to sack Adkins, who I believe would have got us more points than we have right now. But old Saggy Chops can **** right off, and never come back.
Come on man, that's crazy talk. Go back two or three months and you'll find no shortage of posts lamenting the late goals conceded and all points we threw away that we would regret later. We've been doing this all year.
I'd say we'd probably be about 2/3 points from safety with Adkins, as is stands we are 11 points with 10 games left. That means we have to achieve more than 1 point per game from our final 10.
Worst team i have seen this year, which makes losing too them more frustrating, even playing poor we were better than them, they only had two chances and somehow scored both. Also it hurts more because i despise QPR, not the fans and i am not even bothered about Harry, its just the players they have at the club and there horrible transfer policy. To add to it they are a very dirty club, reflected by some players they have/had. Also did not understand Prowse substitution. Took of a bright Ramirez and brought on a player who did nothing but give away a foul. Davis coming on i would have understood. Puts a lot of pressure on the Norwich game if not we could be looking at a 3 to 5 game losing streak. Need to just move on i guess, but this loss does feel worse because it is almost embarrassing to loose to QPR
Can't argue with that. The recent record is deceptive as I didn't expect to take any point against Man U or Newcastle away (although I thought we should have done better at Newcastle). This is really MP's first legitimate stinker. I'm not saying it's his fault as we had stinkers under Adkins as well. BUT I do think this will be his first test. One thing about Saints under Adkins is they always seemed to bounce back well and not lose spirit. I think he also dealt with injuries well. He was excellent at sort of "big picture" stuff to help us grind out results and get through tough periods and also make it through an entire season. That's my biggest concern about MP; we still haven't seen how well he keeps the team going through a long stretch of games with ups and downs and all that.
Just got home . Well that result has completely buggered up my weekend . Not sure what is more dissapointing , the loss or the manner of the loss . Really REALLY need to win at Nowrich next week to keep the confidence .
How many of those games did we WIN? You didn't say "Adkins could grind out results" you said that it was proven Adkins knew how to WIN. And during that stretch of games there were plenty of posts about how many of those draws were two points thrown away. I don't think Adkins should have been sacked, especially as the team was on a roll during that time and a move could easily have waited until summer. But 12 games under Adkins and 6 games under MP is a silly way to try and compare the two. As is pretending that somehow under Adkins the team was closing out games like champions. Weren't we leading the league by a mile in points lost after having had a leading position or whatever?
Thats not what i said. I said Adkins knew how to win the Important games....we beat every team around us with Adkins, Villa- 6 points, Reading- 3 points , Newcastle- 3 Points, QPR- 3 points. What will you have to say IF we lose to Norwich next week? It's likely we'll be in the bottom 3 if we do. Adkins had built a 5 point gap between us and 18th when he was sacked.
I haven't read all the posts on this thread but for me this isn't about MP nor about NA... it is about our transfer dealings. I am trying to remain calm and objective about this, but having seen at least a point thrown away at Newcastle by poor defending and similar today, the question has to be asked. I am struggling to remember two worse defenders than Fox and Yoshida at Saints. Yet our January solution to this was Forren, who as yet hasn't made the team. Please can someone help me because I really don't understand why we have recognised this and plugged the obvious gaps. In every match you feel we are only one moment away from another cock up at the back. Our only hope is that three out of the four teams below us are worse than we are.
