I remember the last time Sean came on here and gave his very confident predicition; he was very wrong, shall we say glad to see he's being sensible these days.
How is it "breaking news" that after almost a year, Digger is still not quite fit enough for the first team?
I'm not surprised that we are unchanged. Jol clearly wants the potential brilliance of Ruiz over the work man like attributes of Petric/Hugo. That is a risk, but Ruiz does have the knack to suddenly make something from nothing that is perhaps a useful thing to have away from home. Of our new signings, Enoh is still playing himself fit (I'm not sure we'll see much of him this season), Manolev is cover for Riether and Urby seems to be seen as competition for Duff (he was not too impressive last week in his cameo, either). If the options are Sidwell/Frimpong or Sidwell/Kara in the middle, as Jol stated in his interview, then I am happy we are unchanged!
1-0 Berbatov penalty. Savage on BBC promptly says "He's too good for Fulham" and tries to link him to Arsenal or Spurs again.
So the swiss sandal, felipe felop, has done it again! Before any one says stop Senderos bashing id like to add he was very lucky last week trying to shield off Crouch and now he's given away a pen. Plus the catalogue of other errors made over the course of previous games. Most players get better with game time....ahem.
If Hughes is not good enoigh why not try Baird for CB? Senderos is becoming a liability! Oh sorry he already is....
Bah, I can't say I'm not disappointed with throwing a two-goal lead away, but another point away from home and a return to the top half of the table isn't all bad. We press on.
Not going to give match ratings but two people stood out for me that were particularly bad. Ruiz. Why oh why does he take so long on the ball? He's always caught in possession and is painfully slow in attack. It was a delightful chipped pass for Berbatov for the chance to make it 3-1 but apart from that what else did he contribute? I'm slowly losing faith in him and would like a change in tactics please where either Petric or Rodallega come in for a game or two. Senderos. Dear oh dear oh dear. What can I say that hasn't been said before. Entirely comfortable at 2-0 and he gives away the softest of penalties. Ball over the top and he decides to grapple with the Sunderland player when Schwarzer was obviously going to get to the ball anyway. Confidence with Sunderland. For their equalizing goal, not only does he fail to cut out the ball across the box from Johnson, but deflects it in a way in which it falls perfectly for Sessegnon to score. Hughes or Baird next game PLEASE JOL PLEASE.
Terrible game for Senderos again. He's definitely a liability in the squad. Didn't think Ruiz had that bad a game overall but a real shame we could not hang on to the 2-0 lead for a bit longer. In the end we were hanging on and I think a draw was a fair result. I think their penalty was a bit soft but then I know Sunderland may think ours was too. Great for Reither- his 1st goal for Fulham. I so hope his is with us next season.
As i have said before SENDEROS is a disaster, every time he is one, to one, in our area gasps go up, the Fulham regulars all say the same. we definatly need to address this position comes the summer. But well done to the team,a good point.
To be honest, the more Senderos plays the more obvious it is to Jol that we have to sign a CB in the summer. Should have won, but a point away from home is still a point.
All very frustrating. And nothing to say about Senderos that others haven't already. It's difficult to say watching a PC stream but following Bandit's 'not so good theme', the Birthday Boy (34 today) Damien Duff seemed very quiet and I thought he rather than Kara should have been subbed. The straight replacement of Kara for Frimpong did not work and we lost any second half momentum we had. I'm sure the Dench will improve with more games under his belt but he not only looked rusty but very unsure of his role. On the bright side; we played well and controlled the first half, Riether got his first (well deserved) goal, Dejagah played exceptionally well and will surely get his first goal soon. Jol's comment sums it up when he said, "It’s a good point but, on the other hand, three points would have meant that we’d done the business today.”
