Hornette_TID not posted a report on the game yet? She was going wasn't she? Then again maybe not, seem to remember Friday is a busy day for her. Anway, plenty of games to go to claw a few points back, upwards and onwards.
A draw isn't the end of the world and the performances indicate we're likely to get what we all want come played 46 time. Very disappointing but lets see how we feed off it moving forward.
Last 15 mins we became more and more vulnerable..... FF MUST score in those situations..... or at least be on target.....
I think Forestieri needs time on loan to another championship or Div 1 team where he can get full games. For me he lacked any confidence in front of goal and has cost us a win we needed to keep the pressure up on the others. He needs to get his self belief back or he won't be any good for us now or in the future.
Agreed two clear open goal chances and another decent chance.... one of these minimum should be put away..... more worryingly too.... we gave them the initiative in the second half.... not the first time we have done this..... we seem to lose the plot for chunks of time..... as per Palace and Bristol City On a positive ..... we have one more point in the bank.... but.......... will it be enough?
This month will be telling for us - we now have three out of four home games which we should win and an away match to Barnsley - which again with all respect to Barnsley we should win too. If we get all 12 points we will be set up well for a difficult April, if we don't then I think we can only achieve the play offs. One things for certain though - we won't get relegated - so every cloud etc...
Gutted when the goal went in but you could sort of see it coming. Just weren't ruthless enough second half. Maybe if Vydra had the Anya and FF chances it may have been different. No idea where the ref got 5 mins extra from even with the slow subs. I thought 3 mins max extra, so at least the goal was 2.30 into added time otherwise I would have been livid! Suppose you can't expect to win them all. Just need to make sure it's only a win against SW on Tuesday...
Thing is, he has shown he has skill but he is not great in front of goal, maybe Zola should look to utilise him in a midfield position?
i wonder about FF..i have a feeling, because he picked up so many cards to begin with, that he's been told to calm it down..he's just lost his flair...and needs to be allowed to play his way. He seems...squashed somehow. Am i alone in thinking that? Or is he just off the boil?
You certainly ain't alone. I would like to see him in more of a support role. Less as an out and out striker, but getting the ball, advancing it and tearing defences apart and turning defenders inside out. He hasn't seemed to have the confidence and the cheeky grin of late.
i agree, he's lost his spark, i just get the feeling he's being a bit...held back...it's such a shame..he needs to play his own game...he's got amazing talent, we can't squash it..it'd be wrong..
Just to cheer everybody up after last night - well I hope so anyway... 1) I would have been very miserable if we hadn't shown we could, should and would have won last night with a bit more precision in 2nd half. GFZ's response was as honest and sensible as I had hoped - so that bodes well. 2) FF scored 2 in reserve gane - different pressure - and he wasn't on long enough to settle last night - so the misses wee disappointing, but understandable. 3) wolves methods to shut us down worked 1st half - but didn't stop us scoring, and are not a blueprint for other teams. 4) Bond was completely unflustered, and came well for the ball. He looks slight but is a decent height. wolves tried all sorts to block him in 2nd half, but it didn't phase him. his blocks were superb. 5) Cassetti was amazing - what a bonus that this 'ancient relic' can take people on and skin them ( If it was rovbinson in 2nd half then he got a lesson from a master) Now, a few stats but very simple We are still averaging 2 points a game - actually 23 over last 10, and will maintain 23 with 3 wins. That's promotion form! ALL of the top 7 clubs have to play 3 of the other 6, except Hull, who have to play 4, and 'boro who only play 2 of them. So our daunting finish is no more daunting than the others. Also, these matches stop the clubs from ALL gaining max points. (Obviously). Next, the possibility of 2nd is STILL IN OUR OWN HANDS, since we have to play Hull & Leicester, so if we match them in all other games (say) and beat them - yo! (OK I realise it's not that simple). finally - a bit of philosophy of sorts... We were 1-0 up, they scored (very) late on , everybody gets upset... If had been 1-0 down and had scored very late on, everybody wouold be 'happy'. Why - result is the same either way. LOOK AT THE BIGGER PICTURE. We are desrvedly 2nd/3rd with 11 to go, and looking at leasat comfortable for playoffs. NOW WHO EXPECTED THAT just before we kicked off at Selhurst Park last august. And just think about wolves, bolton blackburn.
points very well made JT. So true, from a loss to a draw would have been fantastic, how weird our brains are! And yes, i would have given anything to be in the playoffs by the end of the season...very very well said!
Bit of a shame that we didn't manage to hang on for the win. But Cardiff slipping up at the moment and Hull on fire I think it's going to be a three horse race for the automatic spots.
