This forum would be a sad emaciated shadow of its former self if Off Topic threads were ended IMHO. In general I don’t actually get involved in the OT threads, but I like knowing that they’re there and I regard them as essential to keep things bubbling over during quiet periods. Got to be option 2 for me.
I really can not see the point of having a seperate OT section....there has been some really good ones lately and they certainly keep the interest in things during quiet times.....I'm probably repeating what others have said....so have voted option 2
Maybe I'm being stupid, but I can't get my head around where your problem lies. As this poll stands, it's heavily in favour of being a football and moderate OT forum. Which is pretty much what it is now. Unless you are hell bent on abusing people and posting x-rated pictures, I can't see what your problem with this is?
Does not matter what is agreed certain posters will always revert to type anyway and start ****ing things up again. I come here for QPR and nothing else.
Bobby, I can't speak for Cerny but I think that maybe he's just a tad concerned that this whole process will culminate in a more restrictive Board than what it is at the moment. I'd have no problem with things continuing on as they are or having a sub-section for meatier subjects. But there is some concern that neither will happen and we'll end up with our freedom of expression being Modded to zilch. Personally I don't think that will happen as I trust our Mods but perhaps that's what Cerny is afraid of.
You have only to look at the General Chat section to realise that an 'anything goes' section will attract the 'nutters' from elsewhere and soon descend to that level. I trust our Mods to only intervene when necessary and not necessarily because of prompts from certain individuals with personal axes to grind. Live and let live within reason has made this board just about right, I can't see any reason to change anything dramatically...
The point of the consultations and review is to establish how people want us to mod issues as the board evolves. Sure we're (as DT puts it) raising awareness of what these issues are or may become - but from a modding viewpoint and not as a personal crusade. Nothing more, nothing less.
Easy choice for me. As the board has got busier and people have got more used to one another, it's a natural progression to find out what your e-buddies think about a full spectrum of outside interests. I'd still choose a three forum format if it was down to me and could imagine all of them complementing each other but I guess that's down to the powers that be and a general consensus.
With all due respect to Cerny's opinions, valid though they may be, I think Nines said it for me too: "that is that the off topic threads add a lot more to our board than some people realise." "The OT subjects add a greater depth to the different characters that post on here, and add a more human element to our board rather than chatting away to fellow avatars. They have also been among some of the best threads on here and have also I found, been quite educational."
In no way do I want this board to become like the GC board, they get a boner on everytime someone famous gets arrested.
Even when there are quite a few OT posts, there always seems to be a good balance with Rangers related stuff. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
Had a **** week so only dropping in occasionally, but as I have said before...WHAT IS THIS ALL ABOUT Why is this all happening...This is a great board...nothing needs changing A few people need there knuckles wrapped occasionally which Brix and Nuts do brilliantly IF IT AIN'T BROKEN, IT DON'T NEED FIXING
Whether content on the main board should be football only - or football AND moderate OT threads. In the first rounds of consultation, a number of users felt it should be football only - whilst others expressed the wish for both. As it turns out, unless the football only vote sees a massive upsurge this evening, it seems the vast majority of those expressing an opinion, are in favour of both. Does that help at all?
