Seeing as we're doing this... <whistle>

    Lloris

    Sagna Kaboul Vertonghen BAE

    Sandro Wilshere

    Walcott Cazorla Bale

    Podolski

    Subs:

    Szczesny
    Mertesacker
    Walker
    Arteta
    Dembele
    Giroud
    Defoe

Very interesting to see how much people's opinions differ on this though... even supporters of the same teams

Not that it would happen but if we take care of business ( LFC) and Arsenal take care of business..... next week's game with Spurs could become pretty significant for all involved!

Should be an entertaining game, wouldn't say no to a draw!

Ooooh Arsenal 87 you are so hard, you really are. Fighting over football is pretty pathetic.

You lot say your defence is better but only by 2 goals and remember 5 of those goals were by you when we were down to 10 men so I would say defences are equal.

Anyway, I'm hoping for 2 pretty much full strength teams on Sunday with no sendings off so we can have no excuses from either side over the result.

Violence has no place in society, let alone football after the problems it's been through already.

There is something wrong with an individual who laughs at, and therefore glorifies, watching other people being attacked, especially after the disgraceful and racist attacks on Spurs fans recently.

Here's to hoping that there is no trouble this weekend, and that all the talk is about a passionate, eagerly anticipated and incredibly important derby for both Teams.

I'm trying to look at performances over a couple of years, as it's so easy for people to only think of the last few weeks. - Just like everyone is currently doing with Bale calling us a 1 man team. - which is disrespectful the superb form of players such as Lennon and Sandro this season. (to name a couple).

    ok....

Lloris ( no contest there for me)

Sagna (based on quality over a number of seasons, despite current form)
Kaboul (best defender out of all the options at both clubs)
Vermaelen (Close between TM and JV. Although i don't think TM's had the best of seasons, he's been quality in the past. Also, it's only JV's 1st season)
    BAE (Again, no contest)

Sandro (picks himself. Best Defensive Midfield player in the league this season before his injury. - And Arsenal don't have a DM.)
Dembele ( Strength, Pace, creativity, close ball control, always retains possession. He and Wilshere would work best together, IMO
Wilshere ( Intelligent, hard working, great passer and very dynamic. would work best with Dembele.

    Bale (picks himself)
Pod(best alt left sided option to allow bale to play the central free role. Would see him and bale swapping regularly)
Walcott (chosen over Lennon as he's got the versatility to play as a striker.)

Very very difficult. No place for Cazorla either. - As good as he is, I could only choose 3. Same for Lennon, he's been quality this season, but Walcott goes in due to his versatility.

its strange looking at the teams you guys are picking. whilst we're both trying to stay neutral, there is clear bias in both sides. eg. spurs fans think kaboul is the best defender, but he rarely seems to play and when he does i've never found him that good (my opinion). also spurs fans seem to underrate gibbs almost as much as arsenal fans underrate sandro. imo (arsenal fan) gibbs is better than bae this season, whilst arteta is a lot better than sandro. but thats my bias. hard to pick a team that is unbiased on this thread. so i'll do a biased one:

    ------------------Lloris-------------------
    --Sagna--Vermaelen--Vertonghen--Gibbs--
    ------------Arteta-----Dembele----------
    -----------------Wilshere----------------
    ------Bale-------------------Cazorla-----
    ----------------Walcott------------------

    Subs:
    Szczesny
    Mertesacker
    Assou-Ekotto
    Sandro
    Podolski
    Lennon
    Defoe

Feel free to shoot me down!

Kaboul's been injured since the second game of the season mate, he returned to training in the first week of Feb. Last season, he established himself as our number 1 centre back and played in 33 league games and was a strong candidate for our POTY which Parker eventually won.

I think to be fair with Gibbs, we rarely see much of him as he does seem prone to injury so it's hard to judge just how good he is.

As for Sandro and Arteta, I think they're two completely different CM's so naturally both sets of fans will back their own player on this one I think. Sandro is a DM and up until he got injured, he made the most interceptions out of any other player in a European league. Arteta seems to be more attack minded from whenever I've seen him play (in both yours and Everton's colours).

I think it's safe to say YK is our number 1 defender, Drude. Even though he's been out all season with an injury, he'd previously developed into a top centre back. Vertonghen could prove to be amazing, but this is his first season and that needs to be taken into consideration before anyone gets carried away. - But he's certainly looking very very good.
You mention about Gibbs being better than BAE this season. - Firstly, you've got to remember that people are choosing their teams based on the track record of players, not just this season. Much like I have with Sagna. Poor for you guys this season, but there's no doubting his quality or how good he's been in the past. Secondly, BAE was out for a massive chunk of the season (3 games in) and returned against United (I think) on Jan 20th. I'm not quite sure how you're comparing Gibbs to BAE this season, if I'm honest. - There's not really any evidence to go on.
    - But Gibbs is also still very young. BAE has had a few very good seasons now and developed into a reliable solid left back. again, if we're looking at a track record, BAE is surely the choice.

Don't know how you're even making a comparison with Arteta and Sandro? is Arteta even a DM, or is that what he's become because you have failed to sign a proper one?
The two players are completely different.

Arsenal legend Alan Smith picked his Arsenal/Spurs team in the Telegraph today:

    Lloris

    Walker Caulker Dawson BAE

    Cazorla Wilshere Dembele

    Walcott Defoe Bale
    <whistle>

Personally I think it's a rubbish team. Any team which doesn't include Sandro in this argument doesn't warrant being taken seriously.

Nonsense side, although I can see his reasons for choosing it. <ok> Vermaelen over Caulker and Kaboul over Dawson any day. I would exchange Defoe for Podolski.

He was giving a load of chat about the excellent communication between Walker, Caulker and Dawson... purely because they're all English <doh> I don't know why these people are given column space...

I can't believe the credit Gibbs is getting by getting into anyone's mixed XI. He's given away so many goals this season from errors. He's poor. I don't expect him to get a game even when fit as Nacho seems about 50 times better than him.

    LLoris

All the right backs of both clubs are mediocre so don't care who goes here
    Kaboul
Koscielny (no other centre backs really stand out for me from either club so Koscielny scrapes in but he's not been great this season)
    Nacho

    Dembele
    Wilshere

    Walcott
    Cazorla
    Bale

    Podolski
