HULL Cityâs Egyptian star Gedo says he is desperate to pick up where he left off at the KC Stadium and get back on the goal trail against Birmingham on Saturday. The 26-year-old made the perfect start to life at the Tigers with three goals in his first three home appearances. Now, he says heâs settled into life in England, and is already planning to stay next season, hopefully having helped fire the Tigers into the Premier League. âI desperately need to score on Saturday and return the club on the right path,â he told Egyptian journalists when speaking about his City experience so far. âI want to delight the Tigers fans who have supported me since I came to England. I am having a great life here and I want to continue my career in England and hope not to go back to Egypt now.â Gedo tasted defeat for the first time in the disappointing 4-1 loss at Bolton last weekend, and he admits it was frustrating to see his run of goals come to an end. He said: âI honestly felt very sad because I was unable to help against Bolton. Our fans couldnât believe what was unfolding. It was a nightmare. âWe must all put in an extra effort to forget this defeat. I have a big need to score in the next match and I will do my best to help the Tigers achieve their Premier League dream.â City will be the only side able to sign Gedo and team-mate Ahmed Fathi for 12 months after this season under an agreement with parent club Al Ahly, if they are willing to sell. http://www.thisishullandeastriding....tory-18274583-detail/story.html#axzz2M6O8RLof
Brilliant. There's many people who question whether or not he could cut it at Premier League level but I honestly think he can. His first touch is brilliant, he works hard, presses hard, ends up in the right spot at the right time and is a proper modern day poacher. If he can cut it at International Level on a regular basis, I'm pretty sure he'd be a fine catch for the EPL (if we're there) next Season. Even if we stay down, we'll have that top notch striker all Season who can get that 20+ Goals tally alongside Fryatt.
Gedo seems to be the consumate professional. His need to perform to his own high standards, his hunger to succeed, his loyalty to the club and his great respect for our supporters all makes him the ideal template for a footballer. If you could bottle that sort of attitude and feed it to the rest of the squad success would be a formality.
I love his attitude of wanting to desperately score the next game, his hunger is unfounded and he was genuinely gutted about the bolton game, absolute fantastic guy it seems who's in love with city already!
I don't want to be critical, but he has just told his parent club he doesn't want to go back through the media. Good for us, but hardly the actions of a consummate professional.
To be fair though i reckon half of it's due to the massive troubles over there, Hull is like a safe haven
An unfair allegation to make unless you're privy to the discussions he had with his club before coming here. With talk of us having first refusal it seems logical to presume that a permanent move has at least been muted and for all you know it might have only been dependant on Gedo's choice, meaning this statement was not disloyal to his parent club.
Even if I was a consummate professional, I wouldn't want to remain in a suspended League where the fans were likely to jump over the hoardings and attack at any instant... He wants to play football, which he's getting, and I think this system really suits him. I hope we sign him permanently. Olé, Olé-Olé-Olé, GEDO, GEDO!
Hang on, I thought he was 28? Not that it really matters, but it can't be that hard to source something like that?!
TWF is right on that. You don't go saying things like that in the media. It's great for us, but it isn't professional and shows he really doesn't want to be there.
Not surprised he doesn't want to be there, they've just been spanked 3-0. Bet they're begging for gedo and fatty to go back home
Think you are missing the point here. TWF is never right. It's like a law of the Universe:- "Matter cannot be created or destroyed, TWF is never right, ever!"
No he isn't. As I mentioned on #8 we don't know what has been agreed with his club and his statement could easily have their backing.
Well maybe. But in England it wouldn't matter. It'd be disrespectful to the fans of the parent club and that's why no one ever says it. It's always "I'm an Al Ahly player, I've got a contract bla bla..."
Well said Gedo. Shows real passion for the club. As for the PL we shall only know who is good enough when they get there. Many said Messrs. Ashbee, Dawson, Turner, Myhill to name but 4 would not be good enough for the PL. Histiory says otherwise.
Should we get promoted this season.. Gedo will be a good addition to the Pl side.. If we don't and we sign him.. Gedo, Fryatt, Boyd and Aluko is a frightnening prospect
I think you need to consider that there's a strong possibility that this and Fathi's loans were negotiated with permanent follow-on deals also discussed (similar to the deal with Elmo). Such arrangements would include some negotiations with the players to get their agreement as well as the club, so once the loan comes into effect all parties are moving in the same direction. A statement like Gedo's in those circumstances isn't disloyal to his parent club and I guess the proof will be if he's reprimanded by Al Ahly.
