How many of us are going to watch this interview with VT tonight, IMO this reporter/journalist has done a fantastic job of maximizing the amount of viewer this programme will get tonight <ok>

He could have used another headline ie: VT desperate for Hamman to discuss langstones debt, doesnt have the shock factor though does it !!!

I noted the following in a differetn article relating to Chelsea and Rafa....it has some interesting ideas from someone who has gone through the whole range with Abramovich....altho' he tneds to change players and managers without discussion rather than name and shirt etc.
....'im sorry but where i come from you are brought up to support your club (not team) no matter who they sign, who the manager is, how much they spend and what position they are in . its all about pride and passion, yes we can all have a moan at times (and we all do) but bottom line love your club and support them every time. that creates history in itself, and thats why CFC aint got no history'.

Only saw a snippett of the interview on tv this morning and just logged on for the first time to see this thread.

If VT is sensible, and nobody got where he is today by not being sensible, he will properly consult on any future major changes he wants to make. He made the mistake of confiding in what he thought were trusted people on the colour change and ended up with egg on his face. Nevertheless the majority accepted the change, not all with good grace, but with the sense to see the change and VT's financial promises as a positive way forward and look where we are now.

I heard from someone well up in the hospitality part of CCS that the plan was to change the seats to red this summer but have seen no more on this. While I would have no real objections to this as part of the rebranding within Cardiff City F C it is pretty obvious from the opinions on here (of people who have, in the main, seen the merits of the colour change) that any change of name or attempt at enforcement of references to Bluebirds would not be acceptable. I go along with this.

However, as ever the devil is in the detail so if the full interview (uncut I hope) is shown tonight we may get a different slant. I won't be around to see it so will have to catch up in I Player or rely on you guys to bring me up to speed.

I also agree that this is the wrong time to be suggesting such a major change - just when the whole club - owners, officials, employees, players and supporters need to be pulling togther to get us over the final hurdle to the Prem. To raise something like this now is divisive and unnecessary.

Does he want to be seen as the owner of a successful well supported Premier League club with promotional opportunities all over the world or does he simply see CCFC as his toy to help him maximise his earnings in the far east? If we get promotion and he changes the final things we all hold dear then he runs the risk of playing to a half empty stadium this year or the next and how will that go down when games are televised in Malaysia or elsewhere?

    As ever time will tell.

Couldnt take the article seriously after the first sentence, if you cant get the name of the league correct what chance do you have of giving a balanced view <doh>

Ah well, looking on the bright side at least were safe from relegation this season !!
Given we failed to strengthen for a final push last season and now this, a conspiracy seems to be developing in my mind, perhaps he doesn't want promotion because he'd have to pay Sam

Sorry, but Dragons is a step too far.

I agree with him here: "A few were upset but like in any business if we get 80% or 75% of the customers happy, with 20-25% not happy, that's fine,".

But will he stick to that philosophy in the future?

This comment is again waving the big scary stick a little: "If the fans welcome me, I can stay for a long time," he said, promising a further £25m to manager Malky Mackay for new players should they go up. "But if I find they are not welcoming and rude, then maybe I will find a new buyer and go off. But if I were to sell, I'd make sure I would leave it in good hands."

I think if we did make the Prem, the threat of Vincent leaving us high and dry doesn't seem so scary.

I get the impression from the interview that he will do whatever he pleases to be honest.

Frankly, that article is, as the French say, bolleaux........
Most owners can hardly be accused of raping and exploiting the fan when the clubs (almost all clubs!) run up huge losses. The fans' money goes into the club and so does the owners. And TV receipts etc. must well outweigh the gate and shop monies. Take CCFC.......25,000 season tickets at say 500 quid, 12.5 million. Chuck in shirts etc. and we get to 20 million on a good year. If we get more then it is likely more down to corporate sponsorship. Quite recently, the club was losing a million a month.
I am not saying that this gives the owner a free run to do what he wants but it certainly gives him some rights....especailly if he thinks it is in the best interests of the club........recognising that this is his best interest as well. But for him to get anything back, we need to be making profits. That surely only comes with success....and that is what we all want.

How far are you willing to go to get that success....that is where there will be differing degrees of want.

A lot of fans from other clubs call us different names but we dont use them do we. This is Cardiff and the team will always be playing for Cardiff. History is the past and that will not be changed but history is also in the making.

This attitude of not supporting the team anymore unless they do as you decide is a worse attitude in my opinion that someone trying very hard to invest to get us promotion.

If the fans were a bunch of girls looking at the latest fashion in the playing strip you might allow them that, it makes no difference and neither does any name change make any difference.

Today clubs are desperate for investment and many are in danger of having no team to moan about.

It is almost like some would rather have no football team than do everything possible to get the best team we can.

If Cardiff do change the name they will not lose any supporters because they never had the support of any who simply change from one minute to the next. The team on the pitch will represent the city and will always be playing for Cardiff.

There is another option, the ones who want to dictate the business side can invest £100 million and do as they please by taking over.

To completely overlook the business side of football today is ludicrous.

Why they even bother with investing with all the constant bickering I have no idea but I may be alone in appreciating all that has been done for this club and realise the club needs to stop losing money every month.

The investers are not asking to make money but they have every right not to keep losing money.

For those who are not happy perhaps if they offered to cover the £1 million a month the club is losing then their wishes might be of some value.

I didn't see anything in the interview that said a name change was coming. Would it have been mentioned by Tan if it wasn't asked of him?
Anyway, more like Dragons Den than Cardiff Dragons at this time.
